All along the way, no matter what Xiao Wu said, Ye Feng went his own way, constantly taking the opportunity to cop a feel.
Xiao Wu scolded Ye Feng two or three times over it. Seeing that he stubbornly refused to stop, and that Tang San was walking at the very front of the group and had not noticed anything unusual behind him, Xiao Wu could only wrap her arms around Ye Feng's neck and comfortably enjoy the massage of his wandering hands.
After walking for about two hours, a village appeared before them.
A long line stretched out at the village entrance. A simple tent had been set up there, beneath which sat an old man in his sixties. A table stood before him. Not far behind the old man was an archway made of wood, bearing five simple characters: Shrek Academy.
"No way, Brother. We're really entering this academy?" Xiao Wu jumped down from Ye Feng's back and stared at the sign ahead in surprise.
"Xiao Wu, you can't judge people by appearances. You can't judge anything with your eyes alone," Ye Feng said with a smile.
"Fine. Since we're already here, let's take a look first." Remembering Ye Feng's words that Shrek Academy had no Soul Douluo or Titled Douluo-level powerhouses, Xiao Wu finally let go of her prejudice against Shrek Academy.
"No way, this rundown academy is Shrek Academy? The academy that claims graduates can obtain the title of viscount?"
"Dad, this is too embarrassing. I was a genius at the Junior Soul Master Academy. I don't want to study at a school like this."
"That's what the Spirit Hall people said. Since we're already here, let's take another look. Maybe this is some kind of test."
Faced with the dilapidated Shrek Academy, the waiting parents and children could not help discussing it among themselves.
Under the old man's supervision, Shrek Academy's registration proceeded in an orderly fashion. Though some people questioned whether Shrek Academy's entry requirements were too harsh and even wanted their ten Gold Soul Coin registration fees back, the old man and Dai Mubai's intimidation ensured that registration continued smoothly.
"Next."
A young girl stepped forward and held out her fair wrist before the old man.
The girl had no adult accompanying her and appeared to have come alone to register.
The moment the old man touched the girl, he froze.
"Excuse me, did I pass the test?"
A voice as pleasant as silver bells came from ahead. It was absolutely on par with that of a leading actress. Even simply listening to it was a pleasure.
"Does your family know you came here?"
Ye Feng's expression stiffened. He turned to look ahead. Such familiar dialogue caught his attention. Staring at the girl's back, he could not help muttering inwardly, Could she be Ning Rongrong?
"They say education should make no distinction between classes. As long as I meet the academy's requirements, you have no reason to reject me, right?" the girl said with a smile.
The Shrek Academy teacher nodded. The girl passed the assessment as she wished.
Soon, it was Xiao Wu, Ye Feng, and Tang San's turn.
"Teacher, the three of us are registering." Ye Feng tossed the money into the box, and the Shrek Academy teacher began examining the bone ages of Ye Feng, Xiao Wu, and Tang San.
"Mm, your muscles are well developed, especially yours, child. What is your name?" The Shrek Academy teacher looked at Ye Feng.
"Ye Feng," Ye Feng answered.
"Ye Feng?"
The girl who had passed the assessment was startled and began looking Ye Feng up and down.
"Ye Feng!" The Shrek Academy teacher murmured to himself. Other than Soul Masters with the Nine Heart Hibiscus martial soul, he could not think of any other clan surnamed Ye. He instructed, "Mm, not bad. Your muscles are exceptionally well developed. Release your martial souls."
Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Ye Feng did as instructed, all releasing their respective martial souls.
Soul rings appeared beneath both Tang San and Xiao Wu's feet. Xiao Wu, however, had three soul rings, with her Second Soul Ring and Third Soul Ring both purple Thousand-Year Soul Rings. One had a cultivation of over four thousand years, while the other had a cultivation of over eight thousand years.
"Thousand-Year Soul Rings?"
The Shrek Academy teacher was stunned as he stared at Xiao Wu in shock. When his gaze shifted to Ye Feng, he turned to stone on the spot. Several incredulous words escaped his mouth: "Soul... Soul Ancestor? Ten... Ten-Thousand-Year Soul Ring?"
Four soul rings rested beneath Ye Feng's feet. As for Ye Feng's Fourth Soul Ring, it was black, with a ten-thousand-year cultivation.
Xiao Wu smiled faintly and asked, "Do we meet the requirements?"
The Shrek Academy teacher nodded, his eyes burning as he looked at Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Ye Feng—especially Xiao Wu and Ye Feng. He said in astonishment, "Your soul rings have actually surpassed the limits for a Soul Master's Second Soul Ring, Third Soul Ring, and Fourth Soul Ring respectively?"
Xiao Wu glanced at Ye Feng. She had not forgotten that Ye Feng had given her all of this. Without the tempering of their bodies at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, her Second Soul Ring could not possibly have had a cultivation of four thousand years. Then she looked back at the Shrek Academy teacher and asked proudly, "Don't you only accept monsters here? Do we count as monsters?"
The Shrek Academy teacher nodded and laughed proudly. "Hahaha, yes. You two really are little monsters. Mubai, take the two of them in as well."
"Alright." Dai Mubai nodded and walked over to Xiao Wu, Ye Feng, and Tang San.
"We meet again," Xiao Wu said, the corners of her lips curling upward.
"Aren't we going in? Follow me." Dai Mubai looked at Xiao Wu warily. Though she was only a level twenty-nine Soul Grandmaster, he still did not dare fight her. Rubbing his abdomen, he could still feel a faint ache there even after a day had passed. He had not forgotten yesterday's battle with Xiao Wu.
"You said your name was Ye Feng?" The girl who had passed the assessment smiled as she asked Ye Feng.
"Mm." Ye Feng nodded.
"Hello, my name is Ning Rongrong. You should have heard my name from your teacher." The girl proactively extended her hand and introduced herself to Ye Feng with a smile.
Ye Feng sized up Ning Rongrong.
She wore a white dress that gave her a very clean impression. Her long, beautiful hair fell casually over her shoulders, making her seem very feminine. Her skin was exceptionally good, fair with a rosy glow, setting her apart from others. Though she was still young, she would definitely become a great beauty when she grew up.
Ye Feng extended his hand and shook Ning Rongrong's in a friendly manner. Smiling, he greeted her, "Hello, Junior Sister."
"Junior Sister?"
Ning Rongrong froze and looked at Ye Feng in surprise.
Ye Feng smiled and explained, "You call our teacher Sword Grandpa, and I am our teacher's disciple. By seniority, you should actually call me Martial Uncle. Considering our ages, I'm not taking advantage of you by calling you Junior Sister. Isn't that right?"
Upon hearing this, Ning Rongrong became angry just like Xiao Wu. Planting her hands on her hips, she retorted, "I'll only be the Senior Sister, not the Junior Sister. Besides, even by age, you and I were born on the same day. Who's older and who's younger is still uncertain!"
