Lin Lei trusted Grandpa Delin's judgment, but he also did not believe Fengyun would still be thinking of tricking him into drinking the Body Strengthening Potion at a time like this.
Moreover, when he had spoken with Fengyun, he had asked about the potion and learned that it was actually very precious. If it had not been for him, Fengyun would never even have revealed that he possessed such a potion.
His gaze involuntarily drifted toward Grandpa Delin again.
Delin Kewote was an old hand who had seen it all. How could he fail to notice Lin Lei's doubts? If he had initially believed that Fengyun was merely teasing Lin Lei, now even he was beginning to feel uncertain.
After all, Fengyun's appearance was not something he could fake!
Yet in the end, he could not come up with any explanation for the situation. He could only have Lin Lei talk more with Fengyun and ease his gloom.
Ten days later
"Ha!" Fengyun, who had been sitting in meditation, suddenly let out a loud shout. A powerful aura burst from his body, startling the birds and beasts nearby into scattering in all directions.
Seeing Fengyun's imposing aura, Lin Lei laughed heartily and stepped forward to congratulate him. "Congratulations, Brother Yun, on advancing another step and becoming a Level Six Warrior!"
Relying on the formidable control of Control Over Self, Fengyun quickly regulated the surging blood and energy within his body. The lumps of battle qi that had been constantly shifting beneath his skin like little mice swiftly converged and gathered at his lower dantian.
In merely two or three breaths, all signs of Fengyun's breakthrough vanished, and he returned to his usual state.
After opening his eyes and sensing the changes within himself, Fengyun smiled. "I never expected the combination of the Body Strengthening Potion and Blood Boil to work so well. I originally estimated that it would take three months to accumulate enough battle qi to break through to Level Six."
"Who would have thought that I'd break through after only two months?"
Lin Lei twitched his lips. "Brother Yun, although I can't cultivate battle qi because of my bloodline, even I know that the body is the foundation of a warrior."
"Only with a stronger physique can one cultivate battle qi more effectively!"
"With the way you drink potions to temper your body like they're water, I'd find it strange if you didn't break through by now."
"With such a powerful physique, plus all that magical beast meat you eat every day to replenish your nutrition, breaking through is perfectly normal!"
Fengyun stroked the last bottle of Body Strengthening Potion and said, "That's right. Physical strength is the foundation for us warriors. Unfortunately, I've run out of Body Strengthening Potions. Otherwise, I might have been able to break through to Level Six a few days sooner!"
His Body Strengthening Potions had run out seven days ago. This remaining bottle was merely something he had kept as a memento.
Lin Lei looked at Fengyun. "Brother Yun, we've already been in the Monster Mountain Range for quite some time, and our gains have been pretty good. How about we head back now? You can replenish your supply of potions as well."
Fengyun glanced at Lin Lei and thought, We haven't even found Misty Mountain Valley yet, and this kid is already thinking about going back? Does he not want his own opportunity anymore?
Outwardly, however, he said, "What are you thinking, you fool? Body Strengthening Potions aren't cabbages. Even if I go back, there's no way I can quickly get another batch for cultivation."
"Besides, the main purpose of this trip into the mountains was to temper you. Now that I've broken through to Level Six, with Beibei's help, we can try taking you deeper in to have some fun!"
"If you give up now, then the next time you want me to bring you into the mountains, don't even think about it without ten lavish meals!"
Lin Lei knew Fengyun was doing this for his sake and wanted him to gain more experience.
Yet he had already gained a great deal from this trip into the mountains. Fengyun, on the other hand, had been protecting him from the side. Although Fengyun had also gained quite a bit, he had not experienced many truly exhilarating battles.
Lin Lei wanted to improve himself, but he did not want to hold back Fengyun's progress because of it.
Whenever he thought of how freely Fengyun had fought the Raptor, he knew that only by venturing deeper into the Monster Mountain Range and battling Seventh-Rank Magical Beasts could Fengyun truly be tempered.
Now that Fengyun had broken through to Level Six, the Level Four and Five Magical Beasts they had encountered during this period were even less likely to make him feel any pressure.
Lin Lei immediately insisted once more on returning, reasoning with Fengyun. Fengyun understood what Lin Lei was thinking. While inwardly sighing that Lin Lei was indeed a friend worth having, he also came up with a compromise.
They would remain in the Monster Mountain Range for another month, then return once he had used up all the Blood Boil in his possession.
As they chatted and laughed, Fengyun and Lin Lei unknowingly arrived beside a cliff. Together with the cliff opposite it, it formed a valley filled with endlessly churning white mist.
The two walked along the valley for a while. Fengyun casually surveyed the surrounding scenery, and his eyes lit up as he guessed where they were. He immediately became alert. "Be careful. The elemental density here seems much higher than elsewhere. This might be the territory of some powerful magical beast—"
Before he could finish, he gave another soft cry of surprise. "Eh? Lin Lei, look at that small herb that's completely emerald green and glowing blue. Why do I feel like it looks somewhat like..."
"Blueheart Grass!!!" Following the direction of Fengyun's finger, Lin Lei cried out in shock.
As a Dragon Blood Warrior, if one was born with insufficient bloodline strength, there was a second way to awaken the bloodline later in life: drink the live blood of a Saint Realm dragon.
Yet dragon blood was extraordinarily terrifying. Forget Saint Realm dragon blood—even ordinary dragon blood could rupture a person's intestines, destroy their body, and kill them.
Delin had once told Lin Lei that if Blueheart Grass was consumed together with dragon blood, it could mitigate the blood's side effects. Lin Lei had already recorded this in the Dragonblood Secret Tome and discussed it with Fengyun.
After learning that Fengyun had a chance of reaching the Saint Realm, Lin Lei had considered asking Fengyun to obtain some dragon blood for him in the future.
But at the time, it had only been a passing thought!
Now that he had seen Blueheart Grass, however, Lin Lei suddenly felt that his plan of becoming a Dragon Blood Warrior by drinking live dragon blood was highly feasible.
His excitement was immediately evident. He promptly cast Levitation Spell on himself and prepared to pick the Blueheart Grass.
But Fengyun grabbed his shoulder. "Wherever there are treasures or spiritual herbs, there will be powerful magical beasts guarding them nearby."
"The elemental density here is also much higher than in the surrounding area. I refuse to believe there isn't some powerful magical beast near that Blueheart Grass."
"Cast Levitation Spell on me. I'll pick it."
"You and Beibei keep watch for me!"
Lin Lei shook his head. "Brother Yun, I'd better go myself."
"Although you're stronger than I am, when I cast Levitation Spell myself, I can more freely control the wind elements and adjust the spell's effect. If I cast it on you, controlling its effects won't be as flexible. The farther away you are, the more troublesome it becomes to control."
"If there really is some magical beast hidden in the dark guarding the Blueheart Grass, then it would be better for Brother Yun and Beibei to cover me while I pick it myself!"
Beibei: "..."
Beibei looked at the Blueheart Grass, his eyes turning blank. In a situation like this, wouldn't it be safest for me to pick it?
