Changes to the Church (Seeking Follow-up Reads)

At Luna's words, Gu Xi smiled instead.

"Trade them. Trade my share first."

After saying that, Gu Xi looked at Luna. Understanding what he meant, she pointed toward the entrance of the Council Hall.

"Put them in there. Once they're placed inside, they'll automatically be converted."

Gu Xi looked in the direction Luna pointed and discovered that a large wooden chest had appeared there at some point.

It had blue metal trim, and one look told him it was a treasure chest.

With somewhere to store the Ghoul Qi Beads, Gu Xi did not need to give any orders. The skeletons placed Gu Xi's share of the Ghoul Qi Beads into the wooden chest on their own.

Standing before the chest, Gu Xi took a look and found that he could actually see the information inside it.

As Gu Xi examined the supplies in the chest, Luna continued speaking beside him.

"We can only make do with this for now. Once we have enough resources to build a warehouse, we'll be able to store much more."

Gu Xi said nothing. He was rather curious where the wood, stone, and metal in the treasure chest had come from.

Then he noticed that as the skeletons cleaned up the battlefield, they had also tossed the roadblocks smashed by the Black Ghoul Shadows into the treasure chest. Those were the source of materials like wood and stone.

Thinking about it, this was actually a good thing. At the very least, once Gu Xi had materials, he would not have to wonder where to get more.

After putting everything collected from the battlefield into the treasure chest, Gu Xi waved his hand and led the skeletons toward the church.

As they headed that way, Luna explained the church's particular circumstances to Gu Xi.

"The churches in Victoria City were actually built with a church in front and a graveyard behind. The one we visited in particular was one of Victoria's earliest churches.

"I believe there was a reason why the church was the first place to undergo mutation."

Gu Xi thought for a moment before saying, "Are you saying that when the church was copied, the replication wasn't thorough enough?"

"Yes. No matter how perfectly those people tried to replicate it, they couldn't possibly copy everything in the church. Setting aside everything else, all the graves in the graveyard behind the church were empty."

Luna explained.

That was exactly what Gu Xi had been thinking.

However, what Luna said next was something Gu Xi had not expected.

"Also, in the center of the church lay the stone coffin of a knight. This knight was also someone James I had no way to replicate."

Gu Xi nodded after hearing that. "Forget a knight—even the corpse of an ordinary person couldn't be replicated exactly."

"No, this knight was Baus."

The reason she had previously asked Gu Xi to leave an anchor in Victoria City was to obtain information about other Mirror Cities and opportunities to enter them.

But she had never thought of smuggling in things that had not been copied over in the first place.

Now that Gu Xi had mentioned it, Luna realized it too.

"My lord, that's a good idea. Not only can we bring Knight Baus's body over, but the bodies originally buried behind the church can also be found.

"When the church was demolished, there were records of where those bodies were taken. As long as we can find them, we can bring them here."

Neither Gu Xi nor Luna considered the possibility that the corpses could not be brought in.

Exiting through the church's side door allowed them to circle around to the graveyard behind it. The tombstones and everything else had been replicated exactly, even the coffins. But the bodies inside could not be copied, leaving the entire graveyard empty.

Others might not have been able to tell, but as a Necromancer, Gu Xi could tell at a glance whether there was a corpse inside a grave.

Seeing this, Gu Xi could not help shaking his head. There was a reason Aryadovi City had become a city of death.

After making a round of the church, Gu Xi gestured to the skeletons behind him.

On the way here, Gu Xi had already had the surviving skeletons absorb the Ghoul Qi Beads, barely scraping together twenty Level 3 Skeleton Soldiers.

While Gu Xi entered the church, they had all waited outside.

Now, at Gu Xi's gesture, these Skeleton Soldiers walked into the church.

As they stepped inside, skeletons began appearing on the church pews.
