The Black Emperor Pathway's Sequence 5, Mentor of Disorder, was undoubtedly formidable in a one-on-one fight. William had held his own against Trissy, the Divine Descent Vessel of the Primordial Demoness and practically a Blessed. If Trissy had not been so consumed by vengeance that she was willing to trade wounds, she might not have brought him down so easily.
Even with both shoulders pinned to the floor, William had still had the strength to fight. Angel had shown herself to make him abandon that last struggle and cooperate with her questions in hopes of surviving.
Of course, he now lay safely inside the necklace. He had neither reason nor chance to regret his choice.
Angel had no time to examine the abilities Grazing had granted the Rose Necklace. Ever since she finished Grazing him, the Magic Mirror against her body had been giving off an indescribable warning—faint at first, but unmistakably growing stronger.
"Other Beyonders are probably on their way. It seems William Sykes really was under surveillance all along. I wonder whether his death or the Spirit Channeling triggered this warning. Hah, he probably didn't even know he was bait."
She put the necklace back around her neck and quietly warned Trissy.
The wound on Trissy's shoulder had yet to heal. The fight and blood loss left her looking pale and frail. She glanced around at the blood she had spilled everywhere and the glaring traces left by Frost and Black Flame. Her brief attempt to clean up with Black Flame had barely made a dent. She gave a rueful smile.
"There's no time to clean this up. Let's go. You didn't show your real face, so they shouldn't be able to track you. As for me..."
"Turn invisible and leave first. I'll deal with this, then escape
