As Angel's gaze fell on the Card of Blasphemy depicting Emperor Roselle in women's clothing with a rather comical expression, it emitted a faint deep purple glow and transformed into an illusory book.
Pages labeled "Assassin" and "Witch," each bearing exquisite illustrations of Roselle playing the role, fluttered past before finally stopping at the page for "Despair."
A cross-dressed Roselle appeared before Angel, wearing a silk gown and holding black flames in his hands, despair written across his face. Beneath him, the corresponding formula and ritual gradually emerged:
"...Kill a demigod or an equivalent Beyonder creature primarily through your own strength, and consume the potion amid his despair before he dies."
Looking at a method entirely different from the ritual Helene had used for her advancement, Angel's expression turned slightly dazed.
The ritual Helene obtained from Hella Berg was to embroil more than thirty thousand people in a plague and consume the potion amid their despair... Fundamentally, that's no different from the ritual on the Demoness card, but one relies on the despair of large numbers of ordinary people to anchor the self, while the other substitutes a demigod who possesses divinity...
I can't say either one is wrong. After all, I succeeded, and so did Helene... And Hella Berg, or rather Herabergen, the God of Wisdom, wouldn't let Helene die in Molora after she'd gained the approval of Salinger's Blood Banner. That wouldn't serve his purpose in giving me the information on 0-01...
In that case, when I sent Helene to him with the Despair Demoness Beyonder characteristic, he must have foreseen everything, prepared the correct ritual in advance, and provided the corresponding auxiliary materials... So is the ritual recorded on the Demoness card in my hands actually wrong?
