Having just left the overwhelmingly clamorous Sea of Collective Subconscious, filled with all manner of peculiar emotions, Audrey, now a Manipulator, felt her Beyonder abilities weaken somewhat. The omnipresent fog also obscured her perception of her surroundings and the emotions around her.
No longer a novice in mysticism, she knew this was a confrontation between the Arbiter demigods of the Loen Royal Family and the Hunter demigods of the Feysac and Intis militaries. One side was strengthening the damage dealt by physical artillery and weakening the enemy's Beyonder abilities, while the other countered with War Fog that blocked spiritual perception, divination, and prophecy.
From Audrey's observations along the way, the three nations' allied forces surpassed Loen in both the number of Beyonders and their coordination. The front was advancing slowly but steadily toward Backlund. Even ordinary people without Beyonder abilities could hear the gunfire and shelling outside the city from the West Borough and South District, and sense the impending catastrophe.
She realized this was not a battle that any single Saint, or even an angel, could turn around. Even so, she decided to do her part to keep Loen from collapsing entirely before the war of the gods ended, sparing the millions of people in the city from the direct ravages of war.
If the situation truly became irreversible, her Suggestion and Hypnosis could still keep enemy soldiers and Beyonders entering the city from venting their emotions on ordinary people.
Continuing through the fog, Audrey soon spotted an enormous black figure through the dense mist. It had two extra arms at its ribs and another two at its waist. Skirting the obstacles, it appeared on the Feysac positions, crushing the spirits of the soldiers and officers hiding in the trenches with a sudden surge of terror and sending them
