At the sight, Angel actually smiled, her feet dangling and swaying, her hands bound behind her back by invisible ropes.
The Trunsoest Brass Book's ruling that "even thinking about it was a crime" meant it had sensed a genuine threat. That was why it had hastily tried to hang Angel through a "Witch's Judgment."
Unfortunately, you picked the wrong target to judge. I'm a real Demoness... Angel's eyes turned pitch-black, like two black holes, with nothing in them but the Brass Book, covered in ghastly white points of light.
The next second, the laws written in silvery words within the book were stained blood-red. The clauses that had been repeatedly amended and supplemented because they contradicted one another rapidly split into distorted letters. The effect then spread to the other, relatively reasonable clauses around them, plunging those into "calamity" as well.
This was the true power of the "Calamity" charms Angel had used before, one of the authorities belonging to "Calamity of Destruction, Origins of Disaster": inducing weaknesses, contradictions, or problems within a target to erupt, making it collapse from the inside out.
Angel knew she had no hope of destroying the Trunsoest Brass Book, a Sealed Artifact very likely derived from a Uniqueness, with her Sequence 2 power. But bringing "catastrophe" upon those flawed clauses was precisely a Demoness of Catastrophe's job.
As the clauses crumbled into unrelated letters, then rapidly faded away, the brass book on the desk flipped backward on its own, returning to a page somewhere in the middle. A line of words in the same typeface, but grayish-black in color, caught Angel's eye:
"...A 'Mirror Person' may also advance by consuming potions, but the probability of success is only 50% of the original's."
These are... rules, rather than laws?
Before Angel could examine them closely,
