A black statue of the Primordial Demoness. What did that signify? An existence opposed to the one worshipped by the Demoness Sect?
Angel's gaze lingered on the statue's lifelike face and the single eyes, some open and some closed, at the tips of its serpent hair. She asked tentatively:
"Is this the other 'Primordial' you worship?"
"Yes." Wensa pushed the black statue forward with her paw again, bringing it closer to Angel. "When you're truly ready, recite her honorific name."
Recite Cheek's honorific name? Wouldn't that draw the Primordial Demoness's attention directly? Hmm, is that what this statue does—direct prayers toward Another Original Witch?
With a dawning sense of understanding, Angel took the statue. Its warm, smooth texture felt as though she were touching a woman's skin directly.
Seeing the black cat flick her tail again and prepare to leave, Angel held the statue in one hand and caught the scruff of her neck with the other, pressing her:
"What do you mean by 'truly ready'? If I want to advance further, becoming a Conqueror might be my only option."
Of course, after learning that the City of Calamity might have some connection to the River of Eternal Darkness, Angel actually had a few more options, such as Sequence 1 of the Twilight Giant or Death pathway.
But since this method of switching pathways was unheard of, she was reluctant to try it unless she had no other choice.
At Angel's words, Wensa turned her head, a strange smile appearing on her feline face:
