Tracy held the Ice Crystal Charm lightly between her thumb and forefinger, her expression shifting uncertainly and her gaze wandering, as though she were holding her most precious treasure.
She knew that with a little pressure from her fingers and an infusion of spirituality, the fragile charm would shatter at once, sending a message through the Mirror World.
For her, that was all it would take.
It would not violate the city's laws, nor would Helene in the other room discover it. She did not even have to do it now; she could wait until the dead of night.
But for Helene, that message might well determine whether she lived or died.
"Sigh... That woman has ruined my whole life."
Tracy suddenly sighed and muttered those words, then carefully put the charm back deep inside the Mirror World. She rubbed her fingers together, feeling the lingering chill on her fingertips, as cold as her mood.
But just as the conflicted Demoness of Despair was about to leave, her spirituality suddenly stirred. She looked up in alarm and saw a figure slowly passing through the roof: first the hem of an elaborate, magnificent gown, then four heads with long golden hair held in two hands, and finally the upper body of a headless lady.
A Spirit World creature... A very powerful one... Tracy quickly reached that conclusion, but she could not understand what was happening. She was in Partis, the Dream City, and its many laws included prohibitions against traveling through the Spirit World and trespassing on private property.
Whether this lady before her should be called headless or four-headed, her mere presence here had violated at least three laws!
Before long, dark golden ribbons representing the city's will would appear out of thin air and bind this rather gloomy-looking lady,
