Two years and two months, 4.75 million words—this fanfic was finally complete.
Of course, only the main story was complete. There was still a planned long extra, A Few Things in 1368, focusing on two young girls. It would also fill in side plots the main story had not had time to cover, the later lives of familiar characters, and tie up some unresolved loose ends.
The long extra was expected to be 100,000 to 150,000 words, serialized over roughly a month and likely ending around late September or early October. That would be the true end. After that, there would only be a few short extras, released for free or posted in the group due to review issues. They would be released irregularly, and I could not say how many there would be.
There would be a four- to five-day break between the end of the main story and the long extra, mainly to refine the extra's outline. I had many ideas, but whether they could be woven into the story would depend on these next few days.
By then, there should probably be a proper completion message as well...
