It had only been a casual theory Angel and Klein had come up with. On a whim, Klein had set up a simple Sacrifice Ritual and prayed to "the essence of death, lord of the dead, final destination of all living beings." Even if they were wrong and the Goddess had not seized the Artificial Death's authority, an entity that had never answered its believers since its birth was unlikely to respond.

Yet after he used an oil-stained white feather as ritual material and asked Death to reveal what the Pale Hand and Ince Zangwill were plotting, Death had actually answered. The feather vanished, and an answer came in its place:

The defecting Archbishop was possessed by an evil spirit and needed Palenke Tasib of the Numinous Episcopate to help drive it out.

So he's in bad shape too. Even with the strength of a Sequence 4 and a Grade 0 Sealed Artifact, a War Bishop has him running all over the place... No. He causes disturbances in crowded areas. That might be part of his performance. I can't jump to conclusions...

As he pondered this, the Tarot Club members greeted Mr. Fool, following Justice Audrey's lead. Then came the part of the meeting he looked forward to most each week.

After a long silence, only Hermit Cattleya conjured a parchment covered in writing. No one else had anything to contribute.

Well, this will probably become the norm for the Tarot Club. Roselle didn't actually write in his diary every day. He only recorded important events. As everyone collects the pages, the set will gradually become more complete. They've learned a few Chinese numerals, too, so they can spot simple duplicates and won't submit those at random...
