She had crossed over from "Earth" to this world, come back to life in Cole Granger's body for some reason, and become a woman through a twist of fate. Angel had accepted that as fact on the very first day she woke in this body.

The evidence came down to two things:

First, this world had geography, cultures, and ecosystems utterly different from Earth's. Giants, dragons, elves, Sirens—even in the years when evil entities had run rampant on Earth, no such creatures had existed here as entire races, much less built civilizations of their own.

Second, Roselle Gustav, who had crossed over two hundred years ago, had brought Earth's science, technology, and cultural treasures to this world. The works he had borrowed from and imitated still circulated today. Scientists now agreed that without his sudden arrival, the world's technology might still be where it had been two centuries ago.

One piece of evidence was direct, the other indirect. Together, they proved that "Earth" and this planet were two different worlds, and that crossing between them was possible.

Angel's conviction had wavered after her conversation with Adam, the Angel of Imagination. But after Klein had firmly reassured her, she had found reasons to set the question aside for the time being and persuaded herself: Maybe Adam was lying to me?

Everything changed when Angel saw Angel Gray's corpse in that city.

The good news was that Angel Gray had existed. She had died with a Flame Spear through her heart, exactly as Angel remembered. Adam had not altered those memories.

The bad news was that her corpse had appeared in the City of Calamity, a place closely connected to this world.

On one hand, Angel no longer had to fear that she was the thoroughly wicked Cole Granger with tampered memories.
