Ch. 1121Light and Shadow (End of Volume)

The battle at the Giant King's Court ended with the True Creator taking the Blasphemy Slate, while Angel and Klein escaped Amon’s grasp and the City of Silver survivors opened the door to the outside world. Elsewhere, the Evernight Goddess and Lilith killed the God of Combat, and Amon later discussed a plan with an unseen ally.

  • Dunn helped defend Serenity Church as Arianna trapped the Glory and Barren Matriarch in her concealed world, while the God of Combat’s attack on the Evernight Goddess began in the Astral World.
  • Angel and Klein fought Amon over the Blasphemy Slate, but the True Creator descended, reclaimed the slate, and left behind a Beyonder Characteristic for Angel.
  • Amon fled with the mirror containing the Mother Goddess of Depravity’s aura, and Angel and Klein confirmed that the battle at the Giant King’s Court was over.
  • Angel released Colin, Lovia, and Derrick, and the three City of Silver survivors opened the sealed door and saw sunlight and the sea.
  • The Evernight Goddess and Lilith killed the God of Combat Badheil, and Lilith reclaimed the Moon Pathway Uniqueness.
  • Amon sat on an island in the Berserk Sea and questioned an unseen ally about their plan and its guarantor.

Ch. 1122Aftermath

After the God of Combat fell and Loen won the war, Audrey and Leonard learned of the victory while the City of Silver prepared to leave the Forsaken Land of the Gods. Colin revealed that the Gift of the Land was Omebella’s remains, leaving Angel and Klein questioning the identity of the current Earth Mother.

  • The allied armies routed after the twilight vanished, and Audrey returned to Backlund after defeating a Silver Knight and seeing the Feysac forces flee.
  • Pallez told Leonard that the God of Combat had fallen and that the Evernight Goddess had likely won the war.
  • Helene told Trissy that the war was over and prepared a fleet to collect the first three hundred City of Silver immigrants from the God War Ruins.
  • Angel and Klein met with Colin, Lovia, and Waite as Derrick led the City of Silver’s first group toward the outside world.
  • Colin revealed that anyone who died near the Gift of the Land could become an evil spirit, and that the curse came from the artifact rather than the residents’ blood.
  • Colin disclosed that Omebella, the former Goddess of Harvest, had died in the City of Silver and become the Gift of the Land, making Angel and Klein question who the current Earth Mother was.

Ch. 1123Completing the ritual

Colin revealed that the City of Silver’s ancestors killed Omebella and concealed the origin of her remains, prompting Angel and Klein to suspect the Earth Mother’s identity had been altered through a conspiracy involving Amon and the Ancient Sun God. After Angel and Klein escorted City of Silver survivors toward safety, Klein sensed that the ritual was complete and drank the potion to advance.

  • Colin told Angel, Klein, and Lovia that the City of Silver’s High Sequence Beyonders had killed Omebella after she demanded a sacrifice of half the city’s population.
  • Angel and Klein suspected that Omebella’s identity had been stolen and that the Ancient Sun God, Amon, and the Evernight Goddess had played roles in the Earth Mother’s hidden history.
  • Angel and Klein led the first group of City of Silver residents through the Giant King’s residence and into the God War Ruins, where Helene’s fleet carried them toward Dream City.
  • After the survivors’ history returned to the present era, Klein said the ritual was complete and prepared to advance at the Giant King’s Court.
  • Klein mixed the Miracle Invoker characteristic left by Cottar with auxiliary ingredients and drank the potion.

Ch. 1124Miracle Invoker

Klein survived his advancement to Miracle Invoker, using Cottar’s lingering memories and Angel’s support to balance the conflicting forces in his mind. After Angel asked about his relationship with Mr. Fool, Klein revealed that he was the Fool.

  • Angel recognized Sefirah Castle’s aura on Klein and considered whether he might be a vessel for Mr. Fool or another being, but chose not to attack his marionette.
  • In the Historical Void, Klein’s Worms of Spirit scattered among memories of his past before converging and rebuilding him as Klein Moretti.
  • Klein returned to Angel divided between divine madness and the consciousness formed by prayers, but Cottar’s memories and Angel’s touch helped him regain control.
  • Klein realized that Cottar’s Beyonder characteristic had helped him balance divinity and humanity during his advancement to Miracle Invoker.
  • Angel asked Klein to explain his relationship with Mr. Fool, and Klein told her, “I am the Fool.”

Ch. 1125I Am the Fool

Klein revealed to Angel that he was the Fool and recounted his life since transmigrating, asking her to judge whether he was truly Klein or a vessel for another being. Angel accepted his explanation and trusted him, then grew angry about all the times he had kept his identity secret and lunged at him above the gray fog.

  • Klein pulled Angel's spirit body above the gray fog and revealed his face, declaring that he was the Fool.
  • Angel challenged Klein's identity, and he explained that he had transmigrated into Klein Moretti's body rather than serving as the Fool's vessel.
  • Klein recounted his experiences from waking with a bullet wound through his advancement to Sequence 2 and the battle in the Giant King's Court.
  • Angel questioned Klein about his past and considered his reasons why he was not a divine descent vessel or resurrection tool.
  • Klein cited Angel's Mirror Person as evidence, and Angel recalled her Mirror Person's actions and agreed to trust him.
  • Angel angrily confronted Klein about concealing his identity and lunged across the bronze table, knocking over Mr. Fool's chair.

Ch. 1126New Strength and New Problems

After advancing to Miracle Invoker, Klein told Angel he would keep the identity of the Fool and explained his new powers, limited resurrections, and fragile balance between humanity and divinity. Their discussion ended with Angel connecting the Primordial’s awakening to the Lord of Mysteries and the Great Old Ones.

  • Ilian Sauron’s fleet reached the edge of the God War Ruins safely, while Helene arranged more food for Derrick Berg and the other emigrants.
  • Derrick told Helene that the Fool had helped the people of the City of Silver leave the forsaken land, and Helene privately prayed to Angelica Zaki instead.
  • Angel confronted Klein about continuing to play the Fool, and Klein explained why he would retain the identity and its usefulness through Sefirah Castle.
  • Klein described his Miracle Invoker abilities, including using the Historical Void for resurrection and manipulating wishes, and said he had only one resurrection remaining.
  • Klein told Angel that his anchors included the Tarot Club, the City of Silver and Moon City, and Angel, but that a cold consciousness in his Beyonder characteristic threatened to overwhelm his humanity.
  • Angel connected the Dark Angel’s claims about the Primordial’s awakening to the Lord of Mysteries, whom she identified as a Great Old One who had controlled Sefirah Castle.

Ch. 1127Goals for the future

Angel explained the Great Old Ones, the Outer Deities, and the approaching apocalypse to Klein, who realized that Sefirah Castle might be tied to the Celestial Worthy's resurrection. He resolved to prepare for his advancement by seeking a previously accommodated Sequence 1 characteristic and considering a hunt for Zarathus, while Angel returned to Backlund and awaited his summons.

  • Angel told Klein that Great Old Ones stood above Sequence 0, that nine Outer Deities waited beyond Earth's barrier, and that the barrier's failure would bring the apocalypse.
  • Klein learned that the gods sought to strengthen Earth against the Outer Deities and that the Goddess might be close to Great Old One status after defeating the God of Combat.
  • Angel explained that sefirahs were sealed in the Western Continent by the Primordial Yellow Celestial Worthy, whom she believed was the Lord of Mysteries and a Pillar.
  • Klein recalled that the Ancient Sun God had called him the Lord of Mysteries and feared that the Celestial Worthy had arranged his advancement to resurrect within him.
  • Klein decided to avoid advancing with the characteristic from the curtain and considered hunting Zarathus with Angel's help.
  • Angel returned to the Iris Flower Winery, reviewed the aftermath of the war, and waited for Klein to summon her above the Gray Fog.

Ch. 1128Keeping up appearances

At the Tarot Club, the members discussed the divine battle that had reversed the siege of Backlund, and the World revealed that the current Earth Mother was not Omebella. The chapter ended with him identifying the impostor as Lilith, the ancient progenitor of the Sanguine.

  • Angel discovered that she could see the Tarot Club members clearly through the gray fog, though they still saw her as a blurred outline.
  • Cattleya and Xio described the strange phenomena during the siege of Backlund, and Leonard explained that they were signs of a battle between gods.
  • The World revealed that the current Earth Mother was not the dead Omebella, whose remains lay in the Forsaken Land of the Gods.
  • Cattleya deduced that the Evernight Goddess had helped conceal the Earth Mother's identity, and the World added that the Ancient Sun God might have helped too.
  • The World identified the Earth Mother as Lilith, an ancient god and progenitor of the Sanguine.

Ch. 1129The apocalypse approaches (double-length chapter)

At a Tarot Club gathering, Klein revealed that Lilith was the Earth Mother and that the God of Combat had likely fallen in the divine battle. He warned the members that the apocalypse would arrive in a little over a decade, then offered high-level resources in exchange for their service and prayers.

  • Klein used clues about Lilith, Omebella, and the crimson moon to explain how Lilith became the Earth Mother, and Cattleya connected the change in Evernight's rituals to Lilith reclaiming the Moon authority.
  • Angel reported finding Warrior-pathway divine power at the battlefield outside Backlund and concluded that the God of Combat had fallen; Klein explained that the Evernight Church would preserve much of the God of Combat Church's structure.
  • Klein told the Tarot Club that the apocalypse would come in a little over a decade and that learning its cause could corrupt anyone below angelhood, while Angel confirmed that the World had become an angel.
  • Klein offered high Sequence formulas, rare Beyonder characteristics, the Sea God's identity and power, and a Profane Presbyter characteristic in exchange for completing tasks, praying, and making devout wishes.
  • Alger and Audrey considered how they might obtain the Sea God's power or the Profane Presbyter characteristic, and the Tarot Club members enthusiastically exchanged information before the gathering ended.

Ch. 1130Talking it Through

Angel questioned Klein about the Earth Mother’s identity as Lilith, his advancing potion, and the Celestial Worthy’s influence. After they discussed the war and their roles in it, Angel returned to Iris Flower Manor and went into the Mirror World to meet her Mirror Person.

  • Klein told Angel that Arrodes had revealed Lilith’s identity, Evernight’s plans for the God of War Church, and information about his Miracle Invoker advancement.
  • Klein explained that the Celestial Worthy’s mental imprint had awakened within him and that he planned to seek more information from the Magic Wishing Lamp and digest his potion by fulfilling wishes.
  • Angel argued that the gods, not Klein, had caused the war, and explained that the conflict would have erupted even if George III had become the Black Emperor.
  • Klein said he would visit war-damaged cities not as an apology but as a remembrance, then teased Angel that her departure from the battlefield might have caused greater losses.
  • Angel realized that the God of Combat’s death had helped her fulfill part of the ritual for advancing to a Demoness of Apocalypse.
  • After their extended meeting ended in an embrace, Angel returned to Iris Flower Manor and entered the Mirror World to speak with her Mirror Person.

Ch. 1131Her Fists Clenched Again

Angel met her Mirror Person in the City of Calamity and learned how disasters shaped its reflected landscapes and buildings. She then discovered that the Mirror Person had long known Klein was the Fool, leaving Angel angry that she had been kept in the dark.

  • Angel found her Mirror Person near a ruined square in the City of Calamity, which the Mirror Person said had been destroyed by Feysac's army.
  • The Mirror Person explained that disasters caused by nature and human actions, especially those involving the Demoness and Hunter pathways, continually added reflections to the city.
  • Angel realized the shattered Pale Moon and other landscapes might also be disaster reflections, while people appeared only within the actual City of Calamity sealed on the Western Continent.
  • Angel asked whether the Mirror Person had known Klein was the Fool, and the Mirror Person cited clues from his arrival, Seer Pathway, advancement, and behavior at the Tarot Club.
  • Angel recalled dismissing those clues, then clenched her fists and demanded to know why the Mirror Person had told Klein but not her.

Ch. 1132Arrodes on the run

Angel discussed the Evernight Goddess’s plans and her own next tasks with the Mirror Person, then left the City of Calamity. Elsewhere, Ikanser discovered Arrodes had vanished, while Klein traveled by train with the runaway mirror and tried to keep it from exposing his secrets.

  • The Mirror Person explained why she had delayed revealing that Klein was the Fool and warned Angel that the Goddess might send them to find a tributary of the River of Eternal Darkness.
  • Angel considered her blocked advancement, the danger of the coming apocalypse, and her plans to hunt cultists, repay Reinette, explore Trier, and search for the Conqueror characteristic before leaving the City of Calamity.
  • After Angel departed, the Mirror Person looked across the devastated landscape and wondered whether it was the apocalypse.
  • Ikanser went to question Arrodes before a joint operation against cultists, but a Machinery Hivemind member discovered that Arrodes had disappeared.
  • On a train to Constant City, Klein used Arrodes to answer a passenger’s question, then hid the mirror when it began to reveal his own romantic regrets.

Ch. 1133Return to Trier

Alger watched the City of Silver immigrants arrive in Bayam and received Mr. Fool’s secret order to protect their fleet. In Trier, Angel searched for the Demoness Sect and Sevillea, but her investigation of Jacob Sauron triggered a warning that a powerful Beyonder was approaching.

  • Alger saw Derrick Berg among the City of Silver immigrants and ordered a discreet ship to follow their fleet after it departed.
  • Alger recalled Mr. Fool’s mission to monitor and protect the immigrant fleets from the City of Silver and Moon City until they reached Dream City.
  • Angel returned to Trier and began searching for the Demoness Sect, but discovered that Sevillea and the other women at the Red House Cafe had been gone for a month.
  • Angel marked mirrors around the Sauron villa, then found Jacob Sauron had returned and used a Slumber Charm to incapacitate him.
  • Angel drew Jacob’s blood for divination, detected a trap in it, and sensed a powerful Beyonder approaching through the Spirit World.

Ch. 1134Old Stories Retold

Angel met the Sauron Evil Spirit, who shared what he had learned about Formonda Sauron and the damaged seal beneath Red Swan Castle, and recounted how the three Conquerors had been trapped. The chapter ended with Mr. K summoning the Red Angel on behalf of his Lord.

  • Angel prepared a Mirror Labyrinth to trap a visitor, but the Sauron Evil Spirit arrived instead of Medici and explained how he had regained a physical body and gained influence over Sauron family branches.
  • The Sauron Evil Spirit told Angel that Formonda Sauron had gone mad inside Fourth Epoch Trier and that a bloodline-reinforced seal beneath Red Swan Castle could provide an entrance there.
  • Angel learned that disturbances at other weak points might damage the seal and that Trier's corruption could draw high-sequence Demoness and Hunter angels into Fourth Epoch Trier.
  • The Sauron Evil Spirit said Amon, Adam, and the True Creator had manipulated the battle that led to the three Conquerors being trapped, then Angel asked what he knew about Cheek.
  • Near White Cliff Town, Mr. K summoned the Red Angel and announced that his Lord wished to meet with him.

Ch. 1135The Demonesses' Great Old One

Angel learned from Glaide Sauron how the Blasphemy Slate revealed the Great Old One formed from the Demoness and Hunter pathways, then arranged with Bornova to enter Fourth Epoch Trier and investigate its seal. Bornova said Bernadette was following Nast toward Roselle’s final mausoleum, while he believed Roselle was the person their father most wanted to see.

  • Medici learned that the True Creator had resumed answering the Aurora Order’s prayers and decided to visit Him before seeing Cheek.
  • Glaide Sauron told Angel that the Calamity of Destruction, Origins of Disaster required the Demoness and Red Priest Uniquenesses, their Sequence 1 characteristics, and the City of Calamity.
  • Angel and Glaide discussed Cheek’s change after becoming a god, then agreed to investigate a weak point in the seal at Red Swan Castle.
  • Angel asked Bornova for help entering Fourth Epoch Trier, and he arranged for her to use the opportunity created by a Machinery Hivemind team’s mission the next day.
  • Bornova told Angel that Bernadette was following Nast into the Fog Sea as he searched for Roselle’s final mausoleum, and said Roselle was the person their father most wanted to see.

Ch. 1136Depths of the Underground Palace

Angel visited Laura and confirmed that most of the Roselle diary pages Laura had collected were fake, then joined Glaide Sauron near the seal beneath Red Swan Castle as the Machinery Hivemind entered Fourth Epoch Trier. The chapter left Angel and Glaide facing an opened Bronze Coffin as purple flames erupted from within.

  • Angel visited Laura, corrected her about fake Roselle diary pages, and asked about Pierre, whom Laura did not remember.
  • Angel watched the Underground Catacombs entrance and silently mourned Pierre before leaving.
  • A Machinery Hivemind team of four Sequence 4 Saints entered Fourth Epoch Trier through the Well of Blood.
  • Angel met Glaide Sauron at Red Swan Castle, where he explained that he had cleared the castle and taken control of much of the family.
  • Glaide led Angel through the underground labyrinth to the seal, where they saw the Bronze Coffin surrounded by sacrificed Sauron hearts.
  • The Bronze Coffin’s lid was thrown open, and illusory purple flames surged from inside.

Ch. 1137Return to Fourth Epoch Trier

Angel and Glaide Sauron entered the seal beneath Red Swan Castle to confront the Calamity Giant Formonda Sauron and end the curse affecting the Sauron Family. They reached Fourth Epoch Trier, where Glaide charged Formonda, then returned to ask why Angel had not attacked.

  • Edgar Gibson led Saints of the Machinery Hivemind through the fog-shrouded streets of Fourth Epoch Trier, warning them to avoid the collapsed palace and using a Sealed Artifact to burn away lurking shadows.
  • Glaide Sauron explained that his descendants had used Beyonder hearts to reinforce Formonda Sauron's seal and restrain his madness, then led Angel into the Bronze Coffin as the seal's aura intensified.
  • Angel left her Mirror Person outside, notified Klein, and followed Glaide through the illusory flames into Fourth Epoch Trier.
  • Angel and Glaide arrived near the Calamity Giant, Formonda Sauron, and Glaide transformed into a Flame Giant to charge him.
  • Glaide returned before Angel attacked, asked why she was waiting, and Angel summoned an iron-black flagpole.

Ch. 1138"Conqueror" (double-length chapter)

Angel and Glaide Sauron fought the out-of-control Conqueror Formonda Sauron in Fourth Epoch Trier, while Edgar Gibson’s team encountered the giant’s influence and retreated. Angel defeated Formonda and left Glaide watching the Conqueror characteristic he had lost.

  • Angel summoned mirror images of Salinger's Blood Banner and the Sword of Glory, then attacked the Calamity Giant Formonda Sauron alongside Glaide Sauron.
  • Angel used the banner to weaken Formonda’s War Fog and powers, while Glaide commanded soldier puppets against the giant’s legion.
  • Edgar Gibson’s team was struck by Formonda’s roar, repelled attacking evil spirits with an Unshadowed Sealed Artifact, and retreated from the battlefield.
  • Angel cursed Formonda through his liquid flames, causing black Flames of Destruction to spread and exposing his weakness.
  • Glaide helped destabilize Formonda, and Angel used the banner to pin him before destroying his final weakness and defeating him.
  • Glaide abandoned his chance to attack Angel and watched the Conqueror characteristic emerge from Formonda’s shattered skull.

Ch. 1139Klein had gone missing?

After defeating Vermonda, Angel secured the Conqueror characteristic, fulfilled part of her promise to Glaide Sauron, and confirmed that the Sauron Family’s curse had ended. When she discovered that she could not contact Klein and divined that he was in Berdan City, she hurried there and encountered Larion approaching.

  • Angel claimed Vermonda’s Conqueror characteristic and arranged for her Mirror Person to take it to the City of Calamity.
  • Angel and Glaide left Fourth Epoch Trier, and Angel destroyed the Reaper Legion to produce a War Bishop characteristic, which she gave to Glaide.
  • Angel returned to the deserted Red Swan Castle and confirmed that the curse on the Sauron Family had been purified.
  • Angel contacted a Worm of Spirit above the gray fog and learned that it could not reach Klein, then divined that Klein had not arrived at Constant City.
  • Angel searched for Klein, received an image of Berdan City from the gray fog, and went there, where she recognized the approaching Larion.

Ch. 1140You Almost Fooled Me

Angel confronted Archbishop Larion in the Spirit World, where he attacked her and claimed a dangerous anomaly had trapped people in Berdan. When Angel realized he had lied about the source of the anomaly and was fleeing the Church of Evernight, she fought back and drove him into reality, where she brought down Salinger's Blood Banner.

  • Angel prepared a Mirror Labyrinth in the Spirit World and waited for Larion, who attacked her with a twilight greatsword.
  • Angel noticed Larion was close to losing control and urged him to seek the Goddess's protection, but he said he had escaped an anomaly in Berdan that trapped its inhabitants.
  • Larion claimed a powerful Sealed Artifact had caused the anomaly, but Angel spotted his mocking smile and concluded he had caused it himself and mistaken her for a pursuer.
  • Angel struck at Larion with the Silver Rapier and brought out Salinger's Blood Banner, while Larion used his powers to evade her attacks.
  • Angel unleashed a disaster that forced them out of the Spirit World, then brought Salinger's Blood Banner down toward Larion in a forest near Berdan.
