Ch. 1408Homecoming (End of the main story)

Angel and Klein reflected on the completed closed loop and held a Tarot Club gathering where Gray shared a story about a Demoness deceived by two pillars. Later, Klein and Angel returned to their former selves in Backlund and reunited with Melissa and the rest of Klein’s family.

  • Angel asked Klein how Gray’s information had originated, and Klein suggested the Creator’s consciousness had intervened across time to save the universe.
  • Klein kept the Tarot Club’s monthly gathering, where its members shared amusing recent experiences and Gray told a story about an unlucky Demoness deceived by two pillars.
  • Klein returned to Backlund and considered how he had temporarily suppressed the Celestial Worthy’s consciousness while the Great Old Ones sought to delay their inevitable convergence.
  • Angel appeared beside Klein, and they assumed the appearances they had worn when they first met in Tingen.
  • Klein and Angel knocked on Melissa’s door, where Melissa, Benson, and Lily recognized them, and Klein greeted his family by saying they were home.

Ch. 1413Magic Mirror, Magic Mirror, Tell Me

Christina and Dorothy took the Golden Lamp to Archbishop Azik, who found no obvious danger in it, then summoned its Genie at a memorial in Street Park. The Genie said Christina must visit six more nodes, beginning in Backlund, and Dorothy turned to Arrodes to check whether he was telling the truth.

  • Christina and Dorothy rode to the Church of the Fool, where Archbishop Azik examined the lamp and judged it either an ancient antique or an imitation.
  • After leaving the cathedral, the sisters visited the Street Park memorial to the victims of Tingen City's gas explosion.
  • Christina placed the Golden Lamp on the memorial and summoned the Genie, who said she had to visit six remaining nodes to earn three wishes.
  • The Genie revealed that the next node was in Backlund and promised to use his power to make the journey quickly.
  • Dorothy warned the Genie that she would take him to the Church if he lied, then asked Mr. Arrodes to verify his claim.

Ch. 1414Setting Out

Christina and Dorothy used Arrodes to confirm that Klein and Angel had left Tingen and that their journey to Backlund should be safe, then set out by train with the Genie. On the train, the Genie revealed that he was a Grade 0 Sealed Artifact and began explaining mystical knowledge before a man named Mr. Dominic approached Christina.

  • Dorothy explained that Arrodes could answer questions, and Christina learned about Sealed Artifacts after accidentally asking what they were.
  • Arrodes showed Dorothy an image of Klein and Angel traveling by train, and Dorothy identified the mountains as York Mountain.

Ch. 1415The Principle of Inheritance

Christina and Dorothy reached Backlund after meeting Dominic, Sonia, and their Beyonder son, and learned that their parents were probably not high-sequence Beyonders. As the sisters headed toward the Genie’s requested destination, a thief snatched Christina’s bag containing the magic lamp and escaped into an alley.

  • Dominic recognized Christina and Dorothy as the daughters of a woman he had met nineteen years earlier, and Arrodes confirmed that he had once traded with their mother.
  • The Genie warned Christina that Dominic, Sonia, and their son were all Beyonders; Dominic and Sonia later realized their son had fully digested his potion after he described a strange sensation.
  • At Backlund station, Dorothy identified Dominic as a likely Hunter and Sonia as a likely Seer, while she and Christina discussed whether their parents were Beyonders.
  • Dorothy said Arrodes had confirmed that their parents were not high-sequence Beyonders, and the sisters set out to fulfill the Genie’s wish.
  • After reaching Backlund’s East Borough, Christina had her bag containing the magic lamp stolen, and the thief fled into an alley.

Ch. 1416Severe Punishment

The chapter left them entering the church’s Prayer Hall, while Dorothy noticed that a girl carrying Black Bear Cola reacted strangely when Tina mentioned child labor.

  • A thief snatched Tina’s shoulder bag and fled, but Tina and Dorothy chased him into a dead-end alley where a wall appeared behind him.

  • Christina struggled to place the Golden Lamp on the altar until Archbishop Shermane accepted it and prayed over it.
  • Shermane explained that St. Sherman Church honored a follower who sacrificed herself during the Great Smog, and the Genie told Christina the disaster was likely caused by a Demoness of Despair.
  • Christina learned Shermane's name and realized she was a high-sequence Beyonder, then told Dorothy she might worship the Goddess of Calamity.
  • Christina and Dorothy debated whether to visit Aunt Melissa for lunch or continue to the Genie's next location.

Ch. 1419Winning Them Over with Carrots and Sticks

Benson rescued Tina and Dorothy from the East Borough police station and brought them to his home, where he learned they had carried a dangerous Sealed Artifact. Melissa failed to identify the Golden Lamp, so Benson prepared to contact Angel about it.

  • Benson persuaded Commissioner Bolton to release Tina and Dorothy as victims and return Tina’s bag and Golden Lamp.
  • Tina and Dorothy learned that Benson was the Deputy Minister of Finance and met Lily outside the police station.
  • Benson and Lily questioned the sisters about their unauthorized trip to Backlund, then took them to his villa in the North Borough.
  • Benson told the girls he would send them back to Tingen after lunch and asked to inspect the Golden Lamp.

Ch. 1421Oracle

Christina and Dorothy were accidentally sent through the Spirit World to Bayam, where they followed the Genie's directions to the Azure Wind hotel to remove the Golden Lamp’s third seal. • Christina and Dorothy learned from the Genie that they had arrived on Blue Mountain Island near Bayam after Tina accidentally activated a door that sent them into the Spirit World.
  • The sisters crossed the beach toward Bayam, and the Genie explained the Traveler ability and the history of the cliff associated with the Golden Queen.
  • Dorothy asked a Loenese visitor for directions, then she and Tina used the street signs to find their way toward the Docklands.
  • Danitz offered to escort the sisters to the Azure Wind hotel after learning they were looking for it, and the hotel patrons recognized him as Blazing, the Church of the Fool’s Oracle.
  • At the hotel suite, the Genie amplified the negative effect of Danitz’s Sealed Artifact, leaving him grinning foolishly while Tina placed the Golden Lamp in the room to remove its third seal.
  • Tina learned that Danitz was a saint and, following the Genie’s advice, removed the gold ring that had caused his loss of intelligence.

Ch. 1422"Hypocrisy"

Danitz discussed his failed Iron-Blooded Knight ritual with Alger, who persuaded him to switch to the Demoness Pathway and advance as a woman before later returning to the Hunter Pathway. In Bayam, Tina and Dorothy saw Danitz’s true female form, and Denise agreed to take them to the docks after discovering they knew her secret.

  • Danitz asked Alger how to complete the Iron-Blooded Knight ritual, and Alger explained that his habit of provoking teammates was driving them away.
  • Alger suggested Danitz switch to the Demoness Pathway, advance to Sequence 4, and later return to the Hunter Pathway; Danitz considered the transformation and accepted a Faceless Sealed Artifact to disguise himself.
  • Christina removed Danitz’s Hypocrisy ring, revealing his female form to Tina and Dorothy, and the Genie explained that Danitz had switched from the Hunter Pathway to the Demoness Pathway.
  • Danitz regained his normal thinking, introduced himself to Tina and Dorothy as Denise, and agreed to take them to the docks.
  • Tina asked Denise about the suite where Gehrman Sparrow and Angelica Zaki had fought, then revealed she knew Denise was Danitz; Denise concealed her anger and politely opened the door for them.

Ch. 1423Night Theater

She then encountered a crowd of people who looked like Danitz and woke beneath the returning crimson moon, uncertain what the strange experience meant.

  • Denise brought Christina and Dorothy through Bayam, explained the city’s development, and showed them the former Red Theater, now the Night Theater.
  • A masked magician gave Christina and Dorothy tickets to The Great Adventurer, and Denise pocketed them after checking that the girls did not object.
  • Denise escorted the sisters to Queen Anne's Revenge, which welcomed them aboard and departed from the docks.
  • Denise spotted someone who looked like Danitz, then found herself surrounded by a crowd of people with his face.
  • Denise woke from the experience under blood-red moonlight, wondered whether the past ten years had been a dream, and confirmed that she was still a woman.

Ch. 1424Divinity and anchors

Tina and Dorothy escaped Bayam aboard a ghost ship and met Adele Trensuost, a Sequence 1 being who was both a girl and the living warship. Adele warned them about the Magic Wishing Lamp’s dangers, explained the role of faith in anchoring gods, and announced that they had reached their destination.

  • Anne Gustav identified the harbor as Liberation Port and returned the Magic Wishing Lamp to Christina, warning her to think carefully before the final step.
  • Anne revealed that she was the legendary Queen Anne’s Revenge, then sent Christina and Dorothy ashore and sailed away.
  • Christina questioned the Genie about the deaths of his former owners, and he explained the Magic Wishing Lamp’s dangerous wish-granting effects and his limited role in Trunsoest’s fall.
  • Christina and Dorothy learned that the fourth sealing site was in Cookawa City and hired a horse-drawn coffin to reach the steam train station.
  • Christina became frightened in the dark coffin, but Dorothy held and comforted her, prompting Christina to recognize Dorothy as her anchor.

Ch. 1426Kidnapping!

Tina and Dorothy were kidnapped in Liberation Port and taken to an underground ritual as sacrifices. When the cultists invoked the Great Uncertain Mist, Tina felt its hostile gaze and glared back, making it recoil.

  • The kidnapper attempted to sacrifice Tina and Dorothy to several Great Existences, but none accepted them.
  • When the man entered the altar, the Monarch of Decay’s gaze caused him to swell and rot to death, and the other believers fled into the darkness.
  • Arianna emerged, concealed the corpse and fleeing cultists, and told Tina and Dorothy that the sacrifice had failed and the believers would face judgment.
  • Arianna explained that the evil gods existed beyond their world and that Great Existences, including the Evernight Goddess and Mr. Fool, sheltered it.
  • Tina asked Arianna to take them to Kukova and the steam train, and Arianna transported the sisters to Kukova before disappearing herself.

Ch. 1428Resurrection Square

Tina and Dorothy reached Resurrection Square to place the Magic Wishing Lamp at the Genie's fourth seal, where they met the priest Anderson and learned of the square's history. Anderson revealed that Gehrman Sparrow had once proposed to Angelica Zaki there, but another sudden fall interrupted him before he could finish explaining their connection.

  • The Genie explained that Arianna was a Sequence 1 Archangel who had concealed the dangerous details of the failed Outer Deity ritual from Dorothy.
  • Tina wondered whether the many coincidences guiding her journey meant someone was staging events around her, and the Genie reassured her that no one could manipulate events in his presence.
  • Tina and Dorothy reached Resurrection Square and headed to the fountain where Tina was supposed to place the Magic Wishing Lamp beside the Genie's fourth seal.
  • Priest Anderson approached Tina and Dorothy, then burst into laughter when Tina told him that Danitz had become a woman; he fell and struck his head on the fountain's rim.
  • Anderson told Tina that Gehrman Sparrow had proposed to Angelica Zaki at Resurrection Square, then fell against the fountain again before he could explain their connection.
