Background / History

Mewtwo's messenger Dragonite

Mewtwo rescued numerous Pokémon imprisoned by Team Rocket and brought them to an island. Dragonite served as a messenger, delivering letters to humans while Mewtwo searched for an answer to its question. 30

Dragonite later found Lin Feng during Pujiu Town's Defense Battle. Wanting Energy Cubes and opportunities to battle, it asked Lin Feng to capture it; Lin Feng accepted when Dragonite willingly touched the Poké Ball. 90 91

It immediately demonstrated overwhelming strength in the Defense Battle, defeating a Venusaur with Fire Punch, Extreme Speed, and Dragon Tail before sweeping the remaining challengers. Its victories earned Lin Feng a share of Honey Grape Fruit. 91 92

After joining the Breeding House, it assisted Wutong Town's road project. It used Dragon Claw to excavate and later poured cement from a Storage Ball into fixed road templates while airborne. 144 147

Scarred Dragonite

A separate Dragonite was rescued by Mewtwo while Team Rocket was conducting experiments on it. It had tubes inserted into its body, facial scars, severe malnutrition, and intense hatred toward humans. 135 143

When Lin Feng first met it, its Affection was -50 and its Joy Value was -40. Lin Feng used Evergreen Power to perceive its memories of captivity and persisted in feeding it high-quality Energy Cubes with Mewtwo's assistance. 143

Lin Feng later confronted its indiscriminate hatred by showing it a vision of revenge escalating into the extermination of Dragonite and Bagon. The experience made Dragonite reconsider its path without denying its right to pursue the people directly responsible for its suffering. 149 154

It eventually joined Lin Feng and the other Pokémon in the operation against Team Rocket's research institutes. Despite having the chance to kill the frightened researchers, it chose to leave with Lin Feng instead. 391

Growth at the Breeding House

The scarred Dragonite persuaded the female Dragonite to ask Lin Feng for food that would make them stronger. Lin Feng initially mistook the request as a plan to leave after revenge, but apologized after realizing Dragonite feared being abandoned. 368 369

Scarred Dragonite

The scarred Dragonite was initially ferocious, wary, and openly hostile toward humans because of Team Rocket's experiments. It bared its teeth even around visitors and had to be watched by Mewtwo when first allowed outside. 143 147 148

Lin Feng's care gradually softened it. It became attached enough to fear that revenge would make Lin Feng abandon it, and ultimately chose not to massacre the Team Rocket personnel it had defeated. 369 391

Female Dragonite

The female Dragonite is comparatively simple-minded and shy. It relies on the scarred Dragonite's guidance, but it is affectionate toward Lin Feng and becomes enthusiastic when promised greater strength. 368 371
