The car Bulma had brought was clearly a specially customized model, about the size of a small house.
At the very front was the driver's cab; in the middle was a passenger compartment, with a sofa on each side. Drawing the curtains turned it into an enclosed little living room, allowing Nezuko, who was a demon, to come out and move around. Further back was a partition filled with all kinds of instruments and equipment, while a skylight at the rear of the vehicle was used to collect sunlight.
After getting in, Bulma finally got to meet Nezuko. After playing with the bewildered little girl for a while, she slipped into the room at the back to begin spectral analysis.
The one driving was Uchiha Hikari... or rather, her Shadow Clone.
She had gotten a driver's license in her previous life, after all. Although cars on twenty-first-century Earth differed somewhat from those in the Dragon Ball World, they were more or less the same.
"Tanjiro, we're heading southeast next, right?"
"Ah, yes..."
Even now, Tanjiro still looked completely baffled. Before he could figure out how Uchiha Hikari had gone from one person to two, the sound of the car starting made him jump. He clutched the seat cushion with both hands, terrified of being flung out.
Tanjiro's crow looked equally bewildered.
More precisely, it was a "Kasugai Crow."
The Demon Slayer World's power level was not particularly high, but it did have some remarkably strange animals, such as these messenger birds assigned to every Demon Slayer Corps member after they passed the entrance examination. Not only were they quite intelligent, but most could communicate with humans without any difficulty, rather like the summoned beasts of the Naruto world.
In theory, it should know how to contact the Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters.
However, Uchiha Hikari's main focus at the moment was catching demons, so she did not communicate much with Tanjiro's Kasugai Crow. Instead, while her original body cultivated in quiet focus, her Shadow Clone drove the car swiftly onward.
Along the way.
They ran into the blond-haired boy Agatsuma Zenitsu, who was pestering a girl and begging her to marry him.
After recognizing Tanjiro as a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, Agatsuma Zenitsu got into the car with them as well.
"...Say, are Demon Slayer Corps benefits really this good? They even provide their members with dedicated transportation? Is this thing some kind of train? It can actually move without tracks, and it's so fast!"
"Oh, right, I noticed this earlier. Are you and the pretty lady driving twins, Miss Uchiha? You look exactly alike!"
Inside the cabin.
Agatsuma Zenitsu started fussing noisily too.
He had actually seen a fair bit of the world, at least enough not to mistake a train for an "earth god" like Tanjiro had. But when faced with things that had already surpassed the Demon Slayer World's understanding, it was indeed hard to remain calm.
In response to his question about "twins," Uchiha Hikari's original body exhaled softly and lowered herself from where she had been floating back onto her seat.
"This is called a car. It may not have appeared in Japan in this era yet... You can think of it as a shorter train if you want. As for me, the young lady driving, and the blue-haired girl in the room back there, we aren't members of the Demon Slayer Corps. We're merely acting alongside Tanjiro as his friends."
"Friends?"
Agatsuma Zenitsu's eyes widened in shock. He looked at Tanjiro with naked envy, jealousy, and resentment. "We both just joined the Demon Slayer Corps, so why have you managed to find so many pretty girls to travel with you?! Oh, and you even have an adorable little sister with you... Four—four whole girls! That kind of life is way too enviable!"
"Zenitsu, you've misunderstood..."
With his collar seized, Tanjiro struggled to explain, "Miss Hikari and Miss Bulma are both my seniors. They may not be Demon Slayer Corps members, but they're actually incredibly strong!"
"You're lying, aren't you? They look so young..."
"It's true!"
Leaving aside Tanjiro and Agatsuma Zenitsu's bickering.
According to the original storyline, it would have taken them roughly an entire day to reach the mission location where the next demon was.
But because they had a car, Uchiha Hikari's group reached the vicinity of the House of Demons in only three hours.
That was only because the road conditions were poor, and Uchiha Hikari did not dare drive too fast.
"Miss Hikari, the Kasugai Crow says the demon this time is inside that group of houses."
Tanjiro picked up his Nichirin Blade. "Please help Miss Bulma look after Nezuko. Zenitsu and I will go in and take a look."
"...I'll give you ten minutes."
Uchiha Hikari stretched, emerging from her state of cultivating "ki." "I'll go in after ten minutes. If you haven't dealt with the demons inside by then, they'll be mine. As for Nezuko, you don't need to worry. My Shadow Clone will stay here and watch over her."
"Okay."
Tanjiro dragged the thoroughly unwilling Agatsuma Zenitsu off with him.
Only then did Uchiha Hikari walk to the rear of the motorhome and knock on the door.
"How's it going, Bulma?"
"...There are some special components in this world's sunlight, perhaps several unknown types of radiation. I'm analyzing their wavelengths and frequencies. Later, I may need to scan Tanjiro and Zenitsu's Nichirin Blades again to see which component they absorb the most. Only then can we determine what demons are truly afraid of."
Bulma glanced back at her. As she explained, her hands continued operating the instruments.
"Oh..."
Uchiha Hikari glanced at the patterns on the instrument display but did not spout nonsense and disrupt Bulma's train of thought. "Tanjiro and the others have already gone to find the demons. Give me the Laser Sword and Protective Suit you made earlier. I'll help you test their power."
"Huh? Then what about me?"
Bulma became a little flustered. "What if those 'demons' come over after you leave..."
"Demons cannot move about freely during the daytime. Besides, my Shadow Clone is right up front. She has half my strength and will protect you all."
Previously, Uchiha Hikari had tried having a Shadow Clone activate Susanoo, but she had failed.
In the original storyline, Uchiha Madara had relied on the infinite Chakra granted by Impure World Reincarnation, along with Wood Release clones created using Hashirama Cells, to have twenty-five clones activate Susanoo at the same time. She met neither condition now, so it was only natural that she could not do it.
But it was not a major problem.
Even with only half her strength and unable to use Susanoo, Uchiha Hikari was still among the strongest in the Demon Slayer World. Only if all Twelve Kizuki arrived together would there be even a slight chance of breaking through her defenses and harming Bulma and Nezuko behind her, but the odds of that happening were practically zero.
After giving a few simple instructions, Uchiha Hikari geared up, got out of the car, and headed toward the House of Demons.
