Fat Bo panted as he followed Bai Cangshu in flight, occasionally letting out cries for help that filled him with shame.
He did not understand why Bai Cangshu, this killing star, was making him do this, but the silver revolver left him no choice but to comply.
Bai Cangshu did not stop until he had led Fat Bo all the way to the entrance of the mountain path.
By then, the town had already become a sea of fire.
Those reincarnators were stronger than he had expected, and their battle was incredibly explosive.
What disappointed him somewhat was that Tang Badan and the others' deaths had not been counted toward his total.
The progress of the Killer Seed milestone had not updated.
Clearly, the poison he had provided had not been the cause of death. They had likely all been killed by Team 64323.
Tsk~
Bai Cangshu narrowed his eyes, feeling a little regretful. To be honest, after seeing the special effects these milestones possessed, he really wanted to complete the Killer Seed milestone.
Relatively speaking, this milestone, which only required killing people, was the easiest to achieve.
If he were ruthless enough, he could probably complete it by taking a gun into town and spraying bullets everywhere.
But if he did that, he would inevitably become a target for the Plot Characters, perhaps even drawing the pursuit of powerful Martial Artists.
Besides, Bai Cangshu's trial mission time was extremely limited. He had no leeway to do something like that.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The ground shook continuously as buildings throughout the town began collapsing in large numbers. The intensity and destructive power at the center of the battle had completely surpassed the realm of ordinary people fighting.
Warning: Plot Character Mercenary Tao is under attack. Warning: Plot Character Mercenary Tao is under attack.
Seeing the notifications, Bai Cangshu took out his binoculars. Although he could not catch sight of Mercenary Tao at all, Bai Cangshu knew that Mercenary Tao had probably indeed suffered some injuries.
But judging from the battle, Mercenary Tao still seemed to have the upper hand.
Could Team 64323 be unable to kill Mercenary Tao?
No.
Bai Cangshu immediately dismissed that guess. This was a Derivative World created for his trial. If his trial mission could be completed by doing nothing, there would be little point in this world existing.
So... the reincarnators definitely still had a trump card.
Bai Cangshu began searching everywhere through his binoculars, while his right hand was already pressing against something in his pocket.
Bai Cangshu still held out hope for the Side Mission requiring Team 64323 to lose at least one member. He hoped Mercenary Tao's power would weaken Team 64323 as much as possible, or even cause them to lose someone.
Only then would he have a chance of achieving his goal.
Suddenly, Bai Cangshu spotted an extremely unnatural area within the flames.
It was behind a wooden house on the southern side of town, where bushes had originally concealed both sides.
But as the battle intensified, the bushes had been burned away and the wooden house had collapsed.
That spot, as though covered by an invisible barrier, became extremely conspicuous against the charred black earth.
Someone was there!
Bai Cangshu immediately realized that a reincarnator was hiding there.
Of the Team 64323 members currently in his field of view, there were two. One was a giant-like burly man, whose back now bore blue-and-white butterfly-like wings. His mobility was terrifying, and he had forcibly held off Mercenary Tao's attacks head-on.
The other was a red-haired monster, likewise with fleshy wings on his back and scales covering his entire body. Every strike carried blazing flames, and his destructive power was terrifying.
Then the reincarnator hiding in the shadows was either an assassin capable of killing in a single blow, or a support type providing assistance.
After thinking it over, Bai Cangshu suddenly unstrapped the double-barreled shotgun from his back and began aiming at that anomalous spot.
He knew very well that with his current means, he probably could not even break the defenses of either reincarnator on the frontal battlefield.
Fat Bo still had no idea what was happening when, suddenly—
Bang!
A terrifying gunshot exploded beside his ear.
When he turned around, he saw only Bai Cangshu turning and running toward the mountain path, even waggling his eyebrows at him.
"I suggest you run too, Mr. Fat Bo. I can't guarantee there won't be any danger later."
Fat Bo instinctively followed Bai Cangshu up the mountain. Even now, he had no idea why this thick-browed, big-eyed killing star insisted on bringing him along.
Bai Cangshu raced toward the mountain path. This special terrain was not only key to intercepting those Plot Characters, but now also key to observing the reincarnators' movements and buying time.
"Mr. Fat Bo, what happened when Tang Badan contacted the Red Ribbon Army?"
Fat Bo shook his head. He was only Tang Badan's underling; Tang Badan would never tell him about something so secretive.
Bai Cangshu found that somewhat regrettable.
"If the Red Ribbon Army and those other ambitious people do not appear, Mr. Fat Bo, whether you survive today may depend on luck."
Fat Bo was suddenly filled with immense panic.
You attacked a reincarnator. Based on the difference in your Mental Power, you obtained some information. Your attack dealt no damage.
Looking at the notification before him, Bai Cangshu knew that compared to the hidden reincarnator, not only was the gap in his offensive and defensive abilities enormous, but so was the gap in their Mental Power.
He could not even learn a single piece of information.
The only thing he could confirm was that a reincarnator really was hiding there.
Bzzzzz!
Suddenly, a strange sound like cicadas chirping rang out. Bai Cangshu looked back and saw the rain mist in the mountains vanish in an instant as a figure tore through the air at high speed.
His feet stepped repeatedly through the air, allowing him to change direction midair. In his hand, he raised an exceptionally broad black cross-shaped blade.
Bai Cangshu's heart skipped a beat, and he instantly turned and leaped off the cliff.
He had not climbed very high yet, and there were trees below. The damage from jumping was far less than being attacked by this clearly hostile reincarnator.
While still in midair, Bai Cangshu pulled the Universal Capsule Controller - Car from his pocket. Without further hesitation, he pressed the red button on top.
Moon Demon had been hiding in the air all along. Skilled in Moonwalk, he was difficult for ordinary reincarnators to track. He had originally intended to find an opportunity to ambush Mercenary Tao.
Yet he had never expected that Sister, whom Flame Demon had left in the rear, would have her barrier struck by a single bullet.
Your team contract beast, "Sister," has come under attack. Based on the difference in your Mental Power, you have learned the following information: Code Ex051 attacked Sister. The damage was blocked by Barrier Technique.
An Ex code!
Moon Demon instantly changed his mind. Descending directly from the air, he immediately gave chase once he found his target.
Within the Infinite Dimensional Space, codes were also important information.
Ordinary reincarnators' codes used a serial prefix ranging from AA to ZZ, followed by an eight-digit number marking the order in which they entered the space. Of course, this was not absolute.
After a reincarnator died, their code would be inherited by the next new reincarnator. Thus, ordinary reincarnators' codes held no special meaning.
But at some point, an urban legend-like claim had begun spreading through the space: reincarnators with Special Numbers existed.
Those reincarnators were all special beings chosen by the space, every one of them possessing unique powers.
Moon Demon had not expected the legend to be true. He had actually encountered a reincarnator with a Special Number.
This guy was more valuable than the Main Mission!
As Bai Cangshu fell from the cliff, he saw a massive emerald-green blade of light suddenly descend from the sky.
Pfft!
The narrow, slick mountain path was instantly sliced apart as though it were tofu.
Fat Bo lay on the other side of the clean cut, his face utterly drained of color.
Moon Demon merely glanced at him before jumping straight down the cliff.
The instant Bai Cangshu saw that blade of light, he realized he could not fight back and immediately pressed the button.
On the flame-wreathed battlefield in town, Flame Demon was covered in blood, with a hole in his abdomen—the result of losing a beam clash against Mercenary Tao.
The longer he and Demon Mountain fought, the more alarmed they became. Mercenary Tao's strength far surpassed that of any enemy they had encountered before.
There was blood on Mercenary Tao's shoulder, and his robe had been burned through in one spot. Though some of his energy had been expended, he still held the advantage.
Suddenly, Mercenary Tao froze as his stomach swelled in an instant.
Bang!
His flesh and blood exploded instantly.
Plot Character Mercenary Tao has died. Main Mission failed.
Flame Demon and Demon Mountain stood there dumbfounded, unable to react to what had happened.
