Background

Bai Cangshu was already physically abnormal before becoming a Reincarnator. At thirteen, he defeated nearly ten thugs and severely injured several, though he left no record of proactively harming others. Song Xian consequently viewed him as both a potentially savage “monster” and an unusually stable person who recognized and adapted to order. 24

While attending Binhai University, Bai was approached by Song Xian and Luoshui of the Binhai City Bureau. He presented himself as a polite, well-read student, receiving the officers in his dormitory while studying The Compendium of Legal Systems: Criminal Law. 1

He entered Mercenary Tao’s disciple-selection trial, reasoning that completing the assassination contract for the greatest bounty mattered more than fighting other candidates for an envelope. Mercenary Tao accepted his potential after Bai learned to produce bodily energy under lethal pressure. 3 9

Bai later concealed his identity in Reincarnation Space with the deliberately disturbing Ancient God’s Visage, while adopting the codename Mercenary Tao. His identity became widely recognized in the East District as his combat record and transactions grew. 20 21 115 590

Seeking a base outside official scrutiny, Bai deliberately provoked a dangerous border compound into abducting him to Myanmar. He seized the operation, subdued its leader Lin Qinfu, and made the compound the foundation for his own territory. 111

Bai’s original appearance is that of a striking young man with short black hair, sharp dark eyes, defined brows, and a clean, white-shirted appearance that initially gives him a refined and gentle impression. 1

He can show restraint when rules or long-term interests demand it, yet he is willing to use intimidation, manipulation, and mass violence to secure control.
