All manner of strange aircraft whistled through the skies above New Genesis's cloud layer.
Atop the tallest building amid the white skyscrapers, a white-haired old man sat upon a throne, silently gazing into the distant night sky.
"Highfather."
A young man entered the hall, rolling his neck with an arrogant expression. "The latest report from the monitoring station is that two people claiming to be from Earth have requested to visit New Genesis."
"Earthlings? What kind of place is that?"
The white-haired elder tilted his head in confusion. It was not his fault he had never heard of it. For a high-level civilization like New Genesis, Earth's reputation had not even spread beyond its own galaxy.
"A weak, remote, and arrogant civilization. They can't even achieve interstellar travel."
"Then why have you come to me?"
Highfather's expression darkened slightly. He did not think his child should interrupt his thoughts about the future with such a trivial matter. He had always believed that Darkseid, that damned man, had never abandoned his ambitions. He had to be plotting something. Sooner or later, he would reveal his hand and bring another terrible disaster upon the universe.
"I know, Father. But what's interesting is that these two can travel through space without relying on a spacecraft."
"Oh?"
After hearing his child's report, Highfather furrowed his brow. After considering it for a moment, he extended a finger and lightly tapped the armrest of his throne, the symbol of his authority.
"Interesting."
Perhaps exhausted from overthinking, or perhaps wanting to change the state of his life, Highfather finally said, "Let the two of them in."
He was rather curious what these two people from Earth's backward civilization wanted from him. Technology? Or immortality?
