At Stark Tower, Tony listened to Natasha Romanoff's explanation. "Almost everyone has lost contact, and that only happens under one circumstance."
She leaned against the sofa, her face grave.
"What do you mean?"
Tony had also realized the severity of the situation. He didn't believe that old man Fury would let every agent lose contact.
"That means everyone has gone undercover on some kind of mission." Natasha took a deep breath, clearly still unable to recover from the sudden turn of events.
"But Fury wouldn't possibly leave me uninformed." She shook her head, pointing out the strange part of it.
"And what kind of mission would require every S.H.I.E.L.D. agent to mobilize?"
As they spoke, Jarvis, the AI that had been silently monitoring things, suddenly spoke up. "Mr. Stark, my security alert has detected countless unidentified individuals carrying firearms rapidly approaching this location."
"What?"
Tony looked up blankly. Carrying firearms and approaching this place?
But Obadiah, who had coveted his wealth, was already dead. Who else would target him, a billionaire? And this was free America—how could anyone possibly carry such a large number of firearms?
"Get down!"
Natasha reacted faster than Tony. She lunged at him and pinned him beneath her. The next second, two missiles screamed into Stark Tower's bulletproof windows.
A violent, deafening roar exploded beside them as whistling shrapnel scattered in every direction, striking every corner of the hall.
"Holy shit!"
Tony, pinned beneath Natasha, looked up in terror and saw several Harrier Jets flash past outside before slowly hovering beyond the windows. Two machine-gun barrels gradually extended from beneath their fuselages.
"Jarvis, armor!"
Tony had no time to think about why he hadn't gone to Asgard with Jino. He certainly wasn't in the mood to think about anything else now.
