Yin Hao's Righteous Intervention
When Tang San saw the three soul rings circling Dai Mubai, his brows furrowed tightly. He felt a trace of regret over so readily agreeing to duel him earlier.
Though he regretted it, he still summoned his martial soul.
A seemingly frail Blue Silver Grass appeared in his right hand, while two yellow soul rings emerged beside him.
"Tang San, martial soul: Blue Silver Grass. Level 25 control-type Battle Great Soul Master. Please enlighten me."
Although Yin Hao had siphoned away quite a bit of Tang San's Soul Power, that very fact had also driven him to train even harder. While he had not returned to the level he had reached in the original story, his level was still not low.
Dai Mubai raised a brow and said in surprise,
"Blue Silver Grass? Your martial soul is Blue Silver Grass?"
Tang San snorted coldly and recited Yu Xiaogang's bullshit famous saying.
"There are no useless martial souls, only useless soul masters."
Dai Mubai froze slightly, the mockery on his face fading as he nodded.
"There are no useless martial souls, only useless soul masters? Well said. Then let me see what you're capable of!"
With that, he stretched out both hands. A pair of tiger claws covered them as he charged at Tang San.
"First Soul Skill, Entanglement!"
At Tang San's shout, several stalks of Blue Silver Grass burst from the ground and blocked the space between him and Dai Mubai.
A confident smile appeared on Tang San's face. His First Soul Skill came from a Mandala Snake over four hundred years old. So long as his opponent did not use a soul skill, even a level 37 Soul Elder would not be able to break through his Blue Silver Grass.
That would indeed have been the case in the original story, but unfortunately, Yin Hao had already stripped Tang San's first soul ring bare. It only had a hundred years left—how could it possibly stop a level 37 Dai Mubai?
Dai Mubai merely swung both hands, and the Blue Silver Grass blocking his path was instantly severed at the waist.
Tang San's expression changed drastically. He wanted to release another soul skill, but it was already too late. The distance between them no longer gave him time to do so.
Less than half a second after breaking through Tang San's Blue Silver Grass, Dai Mubai had already reached him. One palm struck Tang San squarely across the left side of his face.
How could Tang San withstand a blow like that? He was slapped straight to the ground by Dai Mubai, and the left side of his face swelled at a visible rate.
Dai Mubai froze. He stopped and looked at Tang San sprawled on the ground, then at his own right hand.
Didn't he say there were no useless martial souls, only useless soul masters? So... turns out you're just useless?
Tang San braced himself against the ground and slowly climbed to his feet. By now, the entire left side of his face was swollen, noticeably larger than the right.
"Pfft..."
Tang San spat out a mouthful of bloody foam, along with something white. What else could it have been but one of his teeth?
Tang San glared at Dai Mubai with bloodshot eyes, the Killing Intent around him no longer concealable.
He dared to slap Young Master Tang San's face. This man had earned himself a death sentence!
With that thought, Tang San lightly flicked something inside his sleeve, preparing to fire a Silent Sleeve Arrow at that damned bastard across from him.
The moment Yin Hao saw Tang San get back up, he knew it was time for him to make his entrance.
Otherwise, no matter which of them crippled the other, he would be the one taking the loss! Of course, if they merely injured each other, he would be the one benefiting.
"Little San!"
Hearing a familiar voice from behind him, Tang San hurriedly put away the Silent Sleeve Arrow he was about to fire and turned around.
Yin Hao was walking toward him from not far behind.
"Hao Ge... long time no see."
As he spoke, he forced out a smile uglier than crying.
Yin Hao did not smile. With a cold face, he walked over to Tang San, first looking concernedly at his battered left cheek before taking out a bottle of medicine for external injuries from his Storage Ring.
"Little San, take this medicine and tend to your wound first. Leave this place to me. I'll avenge you."
"Hao Ge..."
Tang San looked at Yin Hao with gratitude. Back when they had left the village, Grandpa Jack had told them to look after each other. Yet all these years... Hao Ge had always been the one looking after him.
Although he had still given Yin Hao nothing substantial in return, even keeping the various Hidden Weapons and techniques such as Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track from him, he still regarded Yin Hao as his best friend.
Taking the medicine Yin Hao handed him, Tang San retreated to the side.
Congratulations, Host. You have traded external injury medicine for 20% comprehension of Tang San's technique, "Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track." Would you like to claim it?
"Not yet."
Yin Hao stared coldly at Dai Mubai across from him and said,
"You injured my brother. Shouldn't you give us an explanation?"
Dai Mubai was an extremely proud man. Hearing that Yin Hao had come to stand up for Tang San, he directly sneered.
"An explanation? What explanation? He agreed when I proposed a spar.
"And he was the one who said there were no useless martial souls, only useless soul masters. I thought he was someone impressive. But in the end... this was it? He really is nothing but trash."
"You..."
Tang San's fury surged uncontrollably at those words. He wished he could fire a Silent Sleeve Arrow at him right now.
"A spar, is it? Fine. I'll spar with you..."
Dai Mubai cast Yin Hao a disdainful glance. He looked pretty decent—could he be some pretty boy who was all looks and no substance?
"That's fine, but don't be like that guy behind you. He shouted slogans loud enough to shake the sky, yet the moment he made a move, it was over."
Tang San was about to explode with rage. In his eyes, Dai Mubai was already a dead man.
"Since you agree, then let's begin..."
"Fine..."
Dai Mubai then straightened his clothes and mobilized his Soul Power again. The white tiger instantly possessed him once more, and the three soul rings that had appeared before emerged again.
"Dai Mubai, martial soul: White Tiger. Level 37 assault-type Battle Soul Venerable."
Yin Hao likewise summoned his martial soul. The Blue Silver Emperor appeared in his right hand, while three soul rings—yellow, yellow, and purple—circled around him.
"Yin Hao, martial soul: Blue Silver Emperor. Level 36 control-type Battle Soul Venerable."
"Hmm? Level 36?"
Dai Mubai looked at Yin Hao in surprise, then sized him up from head to toe. He looks even younger than me, yet his Soul Power is this high. He might be here to enroll at Shrek. We could even end up classmates, so I should hold back a little...
That thought was a disaster. With his strength, Yin Hao could handle him with one hand. If Dai Mubai intended to hold back as well, he would be lucky not to get instantly defeated by Yin Hao.
Dai Mubai launched the first attack, charging toward Yin Hao with both tiger claws swinging.
Yin Hao, however, had no intention of being polite. His first soul ring immediately lit up.
"First Soul Skill, Blue Silver Profound Ice Thorns!"
