Background / History

Tang San grew up in Holy Soul Village as Tang Hao’s son. Despite Tang Hao’s neglect and lack of support, Tang San continued to cook for him and treated their family bond with respect. He arrived alone for his Martial Soul awakening, where he awakened Blue Silver Grass and Innate Level Nine Soul Power. He later revealed his second martial soul, a black hammer, to Tang Hao. Tang Hao recognized the significance of Twin Martial Souls and instructed him to use the hammer to protect the grass. 2 4

Tang San knew Yin Hao before attending Notting Academy, referring to him as “Hao Ge.” After Tang Hao asked Tang San to protect Yin Hao, Tang San became noticeably warmer toward him, unaware that Yin Hao was using a trading system to take his Soul Power, bloodline, soul-ring years, and techniques. 6 52 68

At Notting Academy, Yu Xiaogang deduced that Tang San possessed a hidden martial soul from his unusually high Innate Soul Power. Tang San immediately accepted Yu Xiaogang as his master, kowtowing three times and declaring that “a teacher for a day is a father for life.” 8

Tang San trusted Yu Xiaogang even after discovering that his master was weak in actual combat. He fought a 400-year Mandala Snake to obtain his first soul ring, then later followed Yu Xiaogang’s advice and absorbed what was believed to be a rare Dragon Grub. The beast was actually a Despair Grub, giving Tang San the foul-smelling but corrosive Blue Silver Sky skill. 17 78 79

Personality

Tang San is intensely loyal to those he accepts as family or teachers. He maintains respect for Tang Hao despite his father’s indifference, and he refuses to openly blame Yu Xiaogang even after the Despair Grub misidentification. 4 17 79

He is highly competitive and sensitive to humiliation. Injuries to his face, repeated defeats, and mockery during the Soul Master Competition drive him to seek recognition through battle. After feeling overshadowed by Yin Hao, Xiao Wu, and Zhu Zhuqing, he secretly begins cultivating his Clear Sky Hammer to prove his worth. 53 252 279

Tang San can also be calculating and ruthless in combat. When Zhu Zhuqing accidentally scratches his face during their duel, he retaliates with poisoned hidden needles while she is unprepared. During his fight with Feng Xiaotian, he uses the Mystic Jade Hand to strike at vital points. 53 280

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possesses Blue Silver Grass in his right hand and the Clear Sky Hammer in his left hand. The hammer is powerful but difficult for him to wield because of its weight and Soul Power consumption. 4 254 281

  • Blue Silver Grass — A control-type martial soul used for restraints, battlefield control, and team positioning. Its strength declines after Tang San loses his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline. 212 279
  • Clear Sky Hammer — His second martial soul, secretly cultivated with soul rings before he reveals it in the Promotion Tournament. 254 280
  • Limitation: The Clear Sky Hammer rapidly exhausts Tang San’s Soul Power in prolonged combat. 281

Entanglement

Tang San’s First Soul Skill summons Blue Silver Grass to bind enemies.

  • Originated from a Mandala Snake soul ring. 16 17
  • Can restrain opponents and create openings for further attacks. 35
  • Its vines are unable to hold opponents with overwhelming physical strength, such as Elephant Armor Academy’s members and Hu Yanli. 212 213

Blue Silver Sky

Tang San’s Third Soul Skill releases foul-smelling Blue Silver Grass fragments into the air.

  • The fragments corrode the ground and bore through tree trunks. 79
  • Its smell repulses most nearby allies and opponents. 79
  • The skill originated from a thousand-year Despair Grub rather than the Dragon Grub Yu Xiaogang believed it to be. 78 79

Blue Silver Cage

Tang San’s Fourth Soul Skill creates a large cage of Blue Silver Grass around a target.

  • Used to trap Feng Xiaotian and conceal Tang San’s switch to the Clear Sky Hammer. 280
  • The cage is fragile against sufficiently powerful attacks and is destroyed almost immediately by the Clear Sky Hammer’s impact. 280 281

Mysterious Heaven Skill Techniques

Tang San uses techniques associated with the Mysterious Heaven Skill.

  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — A movement technique; Yin Hao’s System takes 20% of Tang San’s comprehension during his fight with Zhu Zhuqing, disrupting his planned evasion. 52
  • Purple Demon Eyes — Eye technique capable of projecting violet beams and resisting Canghui Academy’s seven-person illusion fusion. It later causes vision problems and suffers backlash during the illusion battle. 103 249
  • Mystic Jade Hand — Hardens his hands into translucent jade for close-quarters strikes. 280

Hidden Weapons

Tang San carries and uses concealed weapons from his storage soul tool.

  • Throws poisoned silver needles at Zhu Zhuqing after she wounds his face. 53
  • Possesses the blueprint for the Zhuge Divine Crossbow, though Yin Hao secretly trades for it. 103
  • Carries a dagger in his storage soul tool, which he uses to kill the Ironclad Rhinoceros for his Clear Sky Hammer’s first ring. 253

Tactical Command

Tang San commonly serves as Shrek’s field commander.

  • Organizes Shrek’s lineup and tactics against Elephant Armor Academy. 209 210
  • Uses Oscar’s Mushroom Sausage to fly, then carries six teammates through the air with Blue Silver Grass vines. 212
  • Recognizes Canghui Academy’s illusion technique and orders his teammates to close their eyes. 249

Equipment / Items

  • Twenty-Four Bridges on a Moonlit Night — Storage soul tool used to carry medicine, concealed weapons, and other supplies. 17 53
  • Poisoned silver needles — Hidden weapons used against Zhu Zhuqing. 53
  • Dagger — Used to kill the Ironclad Rhinoceros in Sunset Forest. 253

Relationships

  • Tang Hao — Father. Tang San respects and cares for him despite Tang Hao’s neglect; Tang Hao becomes emotional upon learning that Tang San possesses Twin Martial Souls. 4
  • Yin Hao — Childhood companion whom Tang San calls “Hao Ge” and regards as a brother. Tang San remains grateful for Yin Hao’s apparent concern, unaware that Yin Hao repeatedly exploits him through the System. 6 68
  • Yu Xiaogang — Master. Tang San places immense trust in him, even following his advice regarding the misidentified Despair Grub. 8 78
  • Xiao Wu — Shrek teammate and longtime academy companion. Tang San includes her in his battlefield plans against Elephant Armor Academy. 209
  • Zhu Zhuqing — Fellow Shrek student and duel opponent. She scratches Tang San’s face in their match, prompting his concealed-weapon retaliation. 52 53
  • Feng Xiaotian — Captain of Divine Wind Academy. Tang San faces him in the Promotion Tournament to restore his reputation and reveal the Clear Sky Hammer. 279 280
  • Titan — A Clear Sky Sect loyalist who identifies Tang San as the “Little Master” after learning of his hammer martial soul. 283
