Gu Yuena stared blankly at the golden spear in Chen Yan's hand.
Its exquisite patterns and dazzling colors lent the spear an added brilliance. Yet, the aura it radiated had changed somewhat. Having absorbed the Golden Dragon's power, its quality had undoubtedly risen another level. Already a peak divine weapon, it was now only a step away from reaching the grade of a pseudo-Super Artifact.
But this spear...
Gu Yuena frowned slightly. Ten thousand years ago, this spear should have gone to the Divine Realm along with the new god of that era. How had Chen Yan obtained it?
Their eyes met, and Chen Yan looked a little embarrassed. Strictly speaking, this thing belonged to her. Wasn't it a little shameless for him to have taken it?
"Um, this spear..." Chen Yan held up the spear and scratched his head, clearly wanting to offer a feeble explanation.
"It's fine. Keep it." Gu Yuena gently shook her head.
"You don't need it? Your Silver Dragon Spear should be able to merge with it, right?"
"It can, but only temporarily. It can't remain fused for long."
The atmosphere fell into a deadlock. Both of them understood perfectly well. Chen Yan had revealed far too much. It was as though he knew everything, which was highly abnormal. Gu Yuena had merely been pretending not to notice.
Chen Yan's smile held a trace of helplessness. He knew he could no longer hide it. Gu Yuena's instincts were sharp; she had probably noticed something strange about him long ago. Just like when they first met, she had sensed his unusual nature merely from his demeanor.
What was he supposed to do? Tell her he was a transmigrator from another world? That sounded unreliable no matter how he looked at it!
"Let's go out." Just as Chen Yan was agonizing over whether to tell her the truth, Gu Yuena spoke as though she did not care.
"Huh? All right." Chen Yan put away the Golden Dragon Spear and slowly rose to his feet. When his gaze fell upon Gu Yuena's bloodstained clothes, he could not help frowning slightly. After hesitating for a moment, he said softly, "How about you change clothes before we leave? I'll go take a look around Dragon Valley first."
Following Chen Yan's gaze, Gu Yuena looked down at her clothes. A teasing smile curved her lips as she raised her head and looked directly at him. "Are you saying I disgust you?"
Chen Yan caught the teasing in Gu Yuena's voice and hurriedly waved his hands, an awkward smile appearing on his face. "No, no. That's not it. I'm just worried you'll feel uncomfortable going out like that."
Seeing Chen Yan's foolish appearance, Gu Yuena could not help laughing. She gently shook her head, a hint of softness flashing through her eyes. "All right, I know you didn't mean it that way. I'll change, but... how are you planning to get out?"
How? Just fly out...
Chen Yan looked at the steep rock walls around him, then raised—no, tilted his head up at the light overhead. His train of thought came to an abrupt halt. It seemed he still could not fly. Should he climb out? He secretly glanced at the still flawlessly beautiful Gu Yuena. Wouldn't that be a little embarrassing? And what if he fell?
"All right, I'll take you out." Seeing Chen Yan standing there like a dumb goose contemplating life, Gu Yuena smiled.
Chen Yan's feelings were incredibly complicated. This seemed even more embarrassing. He had to let a girl help him? No, he had to work harder. He had to rise up!
Gu Yuena's fair little hand took hold of Chen Yan's. Silver light flashed before his eyes, and in the next instant, they arrived at the Land of Buried Bones.
Massive dragon skeletons lay scattered throughout Dragon Valley. Though it was called a burial ground, the corpses had merely been left exposed in the wilderness. These ancient dragon bones rested silently there, yet they brimmed with boundless resentment.
Chen Yan stood quietly, silently sensing the unwillingness left behind by these giant dragons after death.
Bone frames stretching dozens or even hundreds of meters long stood against the vast yellowish-brown earth, creating a stark contrast.
There were also plants growing from patches of differently colored soil, but even as far as the eye could see, there were only a few of them.
No one had ever come here, and there were dragon corpses and blood to serve as nourishment. Of course a few Immortal Herbs would grow here. He could not obtain soul bones, and he did not know whether the divine weapons in Dragon Valley from the setting of Soul Land 4 even existed. Wait... perhaps he could ask Gu Yuena later. He was already abnormal enough, so why not be even more abnormal? Those were divine weapons! What if there really were some?
With an excited heart, trembling hands, and dreams of getting rich, Chen Yan began wandering around, checking whether the few plants he had seen earlier were Immortal Herbs.
As he stepped onto one of the patches of differently colored soil, Chen Yan sensed the strange energy contained within it and grew even more excited. Formed from dragon blood—it had to be top-tier!
He approached the grass and crouched down to inspect it closely. Its leaves were dark green, their edges lined with sharp serrations. A vivid red streak ran through the center of each leaf, as if dragon blood flowed within.
It really looks like premium stuff! Chen Yan thought happily, a flicker of delight flashing through his eyes.
"This is Dragon Blood Grass." Gu Yuena's voice suddenly sounded beside his ear, carrying a trace of wistfulness.
"Dragon Blood Grass?"
"Mm. It grows where the blood of true dragons has been spilled, making it extremely rare. Consuming it may allow one to obtain the bloodline of a true dragon. It is quite useful for low-level dragon-type martial souls."
An awkward silence fell.
All right, perhaps Long Yue's bloodline had come from this as well.
Though it was not of much use to him.
Forget it. He had already gained enough benefits.
Chen Yan did his best to brainwash himself, then ultimately chose to shift his attention elsewhere.
"Um, Nana... are there any weapons or something hidden here?" Chen Yan asked shamelessly.
Gu Yuena looked at him with amusement. He had never called her Nana before. "There are, but my cultivation is insufficient right now, so I can't retrieve them."
A hint of regret flashed through Chen Yan's eyes upon hearing that. What a pity.
"However... I can give you this." Seeing the disappointment in Chen Yan's eyes, Gu Yuena turned her delicate hand over, and a golden shield appeared in her palm.
The surface of the shield was engraved with exquisite patterns that radiated outward like sunlight, brimming with power and beauty. A massive blue gemstone was embedded in its center, emanating strange energy fluctuations.
Why does this power feel like the one inside me?
"This is the Aurora Shield. It was originally yours, and now it is time to return it to its rightful owner."
"It was originally mine?"
Holy crap! This is my thing? A storm surged through Chen Yan's heart. He could not understand it at all, but when he thought of Gu Yuena's previous actions, Chen Yan connected everything together.
Was I reincarnated again and forgot my memories from my past life? Or did I travel through time? Chen Yan's heart was filled with doubt and confusion. He could not determine what exactly had happened to him.
Chen Yan took a deep breath and accepted the shield. He felt a powerful force flow from its edge into his palm, travel up his arm, and rush straight toward his heart. His body was instantly filled with warm, powerful energy, as if an invisible bond had connected him to the Aurora Shield in his hand. The entire shield began to hum, as though rejoicing at finally returning home!
