Next came the moment of the hunt!
Chen Yan and Gu Yuena pulled far ahead with utterly absurd results.
The others could only stare in despair.
"Chen Yan, left-hand strength: 13,821 kilograms!"
"Right hand: 16,043 kilograms!"
"Gu Yuena, left hand: 8,751 kilograms!"
"Right hand: 9,077 kilograms!"
A chorus of sharp intakes of breath rose from below the stage.
These numbers were simply beyond human capability! How could a Soul Master at only two rings possess ten thousand kilograms of strength? Was there something wrong with my eyes?!
After seeing the bright red figures displayed on the machine, they fell into deep self-doubt.
So this is what a real genius looks like? Were all those past compliments lies? Were my parents just trying to comfort me?
Then, clinging to their last sliver of hope, they stepped onto the testing platform.
What if the machine is broken? Or maybe it naturally reads high, just to encourage students!
Then reality brutally proved them wrong and gave them a resounding slap across the face.
The remaining eight had results ranging from low to high. The weakest barely reached two hundred kilograms, while the strongest came close to one thousand. But the gap was simply too enormous!
Chen Yan alone possessed nearly as much strength as all of them combined.
Thus, the hopes they had been holding onto finally died.
So I'm just a fake two-ring Soul Master. "Genius" is nothing more than encouraging words from adults.
"Is this what a true genius is?" someone murmured bitterly.
At that moment, their backdrops seemed to turn gray, and tiny rainclouds appeared above each of their heads.
"Isn't this cheating a little?"
Zhang Yu snapped out of his shock as well. Even their physiques were this powerful? Was this the might of a dragon-type martial soul?
And judging by this, it was no ordinary dragon either. Its rank was at least that of a true dragon.
Gold and Silver Twin Dragons... were they related to the legendary Dragon God? He thought about it briefly, but quickly had no choice but to pull himself back to reality.
Because there was no time to think about that now. A far more troublesome problem stood before him.
The eight people present all seemed to be... emo.
Both their eyes had seemingly lost focus!
Could they still be saved? How had this happened? I only gave them a test! Why did things turn out like this?!
A tiny figure in Zhang Yu's mind viciously tugged at its hair, pacing back and forth in utter helplessness.
"Right, call someone. I need to calm them down first!"
As for why he was calling, and who he was calling? Wasn't that obvious? He didn't know how to comfort people, so naturally he had to find someone who did! And who would that be? Obviously his girlfriend!
(Achoo.)
In an office, the female teacher who had been flirting with Zhang Yu let out an adorable sneeze.
What was that? Was someone thinking about me? Could Qin Yi be secretly cursing me right now?
As soon as that thought arose, her eyes narrowed in delight.
Oh, go ahead and curse me! The harsher you curse, the more it proves my efforts are working! Then when I go to Principal Qin, I'll have even more justification to demand double my salary!
Just as she was considering whether to use that doubled salary to buy things for their little home or save it for components of a Three-Word Battle Armor, the phone beside her suddenly rang.
"Beep—beep—beep—"
"Hm? Isn't he teaching? Why is he calling?" A flicker of confusion passed through her eyes. Could he have actually hit a student?
With that thought, she shot to her feet and answered the phone while sprinting away.
"Where are you?!"
Huh? Why did she hear the sound of wind—and a faintly familiar killing intent?
But this was an emergency! One little girl looked like she was about to cry.
I want to cry too!
"In the equipment room. Hurry over!"
After hearing that, the female teacher inwardly cried out in alarm. He had really gotten himself into trouble! That damn man—she had told him not to stir things up, yet he was still so reckless!
She immediately hung up and quickened her pace.
A streak of yellow lightning reached the first floor, tore through the corridor, and whipped up a gale. The plants lining the hallway danced wildly in the wind.
"Huh? Did something just flash past outside?"
A distracted student looking out the window asked suspiciously.
"Zhou Cen, what are you looking at?"
A sinister voice, at least to his ears, sounded from behind him.
"Uh, nothing, Teacher!" He sprang to his feet.
Zhou Cen's heart pounded. Though he wanted to keep his eyes straight ahead, he could not help secretly glancing outside, trying to find the source of that yellow lightning bolt.
But beyond the window, there was nothing but blue skies and the occasional drifting cloud.
Seeing Zhou Cen's little movements, Teacher sighed inwardly. He was probably another rich kid who did not want to work hard.
"Sit down first."
"Ah, yes!"
Zhou Cen let out a breath of relief and slowly sat down, but his thoughts remained fixed on that mysterious yellow lightning bolt.
I swear, I'll uncover the truth behind that thing.
And so, through a strange twist of fate, the school gained one more student determined to seek the truth.
And in the future, thanks to his efforts, the school gained another widely circulated campus legend.
Meanwhile, Zhang Yu anxiously awaited the female teacher's arrival in the equipment room. His students all looked utterly lost, as though they had lost hope for the future.
"What should I do? Why isn't she here yet?" Zhang Yu paced back and forth anxiously, filled with self-reproach. If I'd known, I would have tested them separately.
Just then, the equipment room door was violently shoved open, and the female teacher rushed in like a whirlwind. There was a hint of nervousness in her eyes, but even more determination.
"What happened?" the female teacher asked urgently, her gaze swiftly sweeping across every student present.
But after seeing that the key person was safe and sound, she breathed a sigh of relief.
Thank goodness nothing happened. Otherwise, there would have been no way to clean this up.
She silently walked over to Zhang Yu's side, extended a small hand, and smiled.
Hiss—Zhang Yu nearly cried out! (A perfectly innocent cry, don't let your minds wander. (,,,,`))
How did I offend her again?
"Hello, everyone. I'm your life teacher, Bai Ling. I'll be responsible for matters concerning your daily life."
But soon, she belatedly realized that something was off about the atmosphere.
Other than Chen Yan and Gu Yuena, who were looking at her, everyone else had their heads lowered.
What's wrong? (Waggles eyebrows.)
Frowning tightly. (Enduring pain, did not see it.)
Only then did she release the hand at his waist.
"What happened to them?"
Zhang Yu's brows relaxed slightly before knitting together again. With a tearful expression, he sighed and told her everything that had happened in full detail.
"They were discouraged because you're too strong?"
After hearing their test results, Bai Ling was so shocked that she nearly lost her voice.
She looked at the students with pity. How tragic, being in the same class as monsters like these.
