Background / History

Dai Mubai is the younger of the Star Luo Empire's two competing royal heirs. As a member of the Dai family, he inherited the Evil Eye White Tiger Martial Soul and was paired with Zhu Zhuqing of the Zhu family, whose Netherworld Spirit Cat could potentially form a Martial Soul Fusion with his White Tiger. His elder brother, Dai Weisi, held a substantial age and Soul Power advantage, while Dai Weisi's partner Zhu Zhuyun also surpassed Zhu Zhuqing in strength. 66

Rather than face the succession contest, Dai Mubai fled the Star Luo Empire alone without informing Zhu Zhuqing. His escape left her to draw the attention of Dai Weisi and Zhu Zhuyun, making him a laughingstock among Star Luo's upper class. 66 He later joined Shrek Academy, where he presented himself as its senior student and “Young Master Dai.”

When Tang San and Xiao Wu arrived near Shrek, Dai Mubai attempted to seize the final hotel room from them. His contemptuous treatment of Ryotaro provoked Kintaros, who struck him in the face and then easily defeated him after Dai Mubai activated his Martial Soul. 31 32

At Shrek's entrance, Dai Mubai encountered Zhu Zhuqing again. He tried to take her aside, but Qian Qiao restrained him with ease. Zhu Zhuqing explicitly rejected Dai Mubai, stating that she had joined Shrek for herself rather than for him and would resolve her future alongside Qian Qiao. 33

Dai Mubai is intensely proud of his lineage, status, and inherited Martial Soul. He views the Evil Eye White Tiger as a royal Martial Soul worthy of standing beside the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon, and he routinely assumes that his identity as a Star Luo prince places him above others. 31 141

He is calculating when social status is involved. During his time at Shrek, he tries to establish himself as the dependable senior student in Zhu Zhuqing's eyes while diminishing Qian Qiao by comparison. He also considers powerful figures such as Yusuke Godai and Qian Qiao as prospective backing for his eventual bid for the Star Luo throne. 38 106

His pride repeatedly turns into overconfidence in combat.
