After watching her daughter register, Bibi Dong did not linger. She turned and headed toward where Grandmaster was.
They had not seen each other for nearly twenty years, yet she had long investigated Grandmaster's whereabouts thoroughly and knew them by heart. With an anxious, unsettled heart, she arrived outside Grandmaster's room in just a few minutes.
Bibi Dong hesitated for a moment before finally raising her jade-like hand and gently knocking on the door.
Yet even after a long while, there was no response from inside.
"Are you here to see Grandmaster?" A voice came from behind her. Bibi Dong turned and saw a young man dressed as a teacher walking toward her.
Bibi Dong gave a slight nod, her expression cool and silent. It was not that she was deliberately acting aloof; she had spent so many years in a position of power that she had grown used to presenting herself this way. Only then could she intimidate those beneath her.
"Stop waiting. Grandmaster left the academy some time ago and hasn't returned yet." Seeing the stunningly beautiful woman standing outside Grandmaster's door, the young man could not help feeling sour as he spoke bitterly, then added, "But he probably won't be coming back."
"Hm?" Bibi Dong's beautiful brows furrowed slightly at those words, and a trace of icy chill seeped into her gaze. Cold as frost.
"Why would you say that?"
The young man merely shrugged, his face filled with contempt as he said indignantly, "Does that even need asking? That piece of trash wanted to imitate others and take someone to obtain a Soul Ring. Isn't that just getting people killed? Not just him either—what a pity. The student with Innate Full Soul Power he took with him probably won't be coming back either."
Why did a fame-seeking fraud like Grandmaster get such luck with women? I'm also a Soul Master in my twenties—why have I never had that kind of luck? I'm still single to this day.
When it came to hard work, I'd been a teacher for years and taught plenty of batches of students. Grandmaster, meanwhile, had been at the academy for nearly twenty years, mooching off the academy solely because of his relationship with the dean. He had never taught a single student, yet his treatment was even better than mine—no, better than the head instructor's.
As for age, I'm over twenty years younger than Grandmaster. As for looks, I'm much more handsome than that middle-aged man. Why did that freeloader get better treatment than me, who worked hard, and even have this kind of luck with women? Damn it, I'm so pissed!
"Trash?" Bibi Dong's gaze gradually turned cold. A powerful Soul Power pressure erupted in an instant, then vanished just as quickly. If this were not the academy, she would have killed someone like him. Anyone who dared insult Xiao Gang deserved to die.
"You think you're worthy of speaking of him?" Bibi Dong cast the young man a cold glance, her voice piercingly frigid.
Still, Xiao Gang was not here after all. It seemed this trip would not allow her to see him. Fate truly toyed with people. They could not be together, and now even meeting again had become impossible. Perhaps this was destiny.
Ignoring the young man who had already collapsed to the ground, Bibi Dong let out a soft sigh, turned, and walked outside.
Watching the woman leave, the young man's face had gone deathly pale. Though that Soul Power pressure had lasted only an instant, in that instant he had felt closer to death than ever before. He had no doubt that woman had truly dared to kill him.
Though disappointed, Bibi Dong did not think much of it. As for searching for him in the Soul Hunting Forest, she decided against it. According to what her daughter had once said, Xiao Gang should be safe on this journey.
Seeing Xiao Gang had merely been convenient along the way. Since they were not fated to meet, why force it? Besides, if she truly saw him, what could she even say?
She was no longer the girl she had been back then, able to willfully do whatever she wanted. Now, she had far too much to consider.
Just then, a system notification suddenly sounded by her ear.
"Ding! Congratulations to the host for successfully joining Nuoding City Academy. Reward: one drop of Pangu's Essence Blood." "Next mission: Join Shrek Academy in six years. If your Soul Power reaches level 30 before joining the academy and you possess a Ten-Thousand-Year Soul Ring, you will receive an additional reward."
As the familiar voice rang out, Bibi Dong's brows furrowed slightly, and her beautiful eyes filled with confusion.
"System, who is Pangu? What is his blood used for?"
Looking at Bibi Dong, who knew nothing at all, the system remained silent for a long time before slowly replying, "Pangu is one of the Three Thousand Chaos Fiends. His essence blood can strengthen one's physique. After fully absorbing it, the body can attain sainthood through the flesh."
"Three Thousand Chaos Fiends?" Bibi Dong could not help feeling disappointed. Though she did not know what level such people were, there were three thousand of them, so they could not possibly have been all that powerful. At most, they were probably comparable to a Titled Douluo.
As for attaining sainthood through the flesh—was that equivalent to becoming a Soul Sage? In that case, a single drop of essence blood probably would not have much effect. She might not even feel it.
With her strength, perhaps only all of Pangu's essence blood combined could bring her a noticeable improvement.
With a flick of her finger, a drop of liquid rippling with golden light appeared at her fingertips.
"This is Pangu's Essence Blood? It looks rather ordinary." After giving it a disappointed glance, Bibi Dong was just about to place it in her mouth and swallow it when the system notification swiftly sounded.
"Warning! Warning! Host, if you directly consume Pangu's Essence Blood, the energy within it will cause your body to explode."
Bibi Dong abruptly stopped, her beautiful eyes narrowing slightly.
"System, I am only one step away from level 99, yet you say I'll be burst apart by a single drop of blood?" Though Bibi Dong's tone was calm, it was filled with pride.
There were only a handful of Titled Douluo on the entire continent, and even fewer stronger than her. Other than Qian Daoliu, Bo Saixi, and the missing Tang Chen, she believed no one was her match.
What was more, with the unique traits of her Twin Martial Souls, once she had fully added all nine Soul Rings to her second Martial Soul, she would possess eighteen Soul Rings. Even against Qian Daoliu and the others, she would have nothing to fear.
Yet the system claimed that someone like her would be burst apart by one tiny drop of essence blood.
Ridiculous?
"Ding! The host's knowledge is far too limited. This system cannot be bothered to explain. In short, if the host forcibly absorbs it, death is certain. Believe it or not."
Bibi Dong had not expected the system to say such a thing. As the Pope of Spirit Hall, she had read through the materials Spirit Hall had collected over thousands of years. What had she not seen?
It actually said her knowledge was limited? Who was it looking down on?
Forget it. She was still a Pope, after all. Arguing with an idiot would be rather beneath her, so she said irritably, "Fine, my knowledge is limited. Tell me, then—how am I supposed to absorb this thing?"
"Ding! The host's body is far too weak. To absorb it, you can only place it within your heart meridians and use your heart's blood to wash over it, absorbing its energy bit by bit. Only then will you avoid harming yourself."
I'm not too clear on the Primordial Era setting, but personally, I think if Bibi Dong directly swallowed Pangu's Essence Blood, she'd most likely be done for.
