Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Queen Medusa — Half-step Dou Zong 86 90 Advances beyond her previous Peak Dou Huang strength. Her aura shakes the surrounding space, and the elders refrain from openly challenging her marriage plans.
Queen Medusa — Dou Zong; Seven-Colored Sky Swallowing Python body 92 102 110 Completes her fusion with the Green Lotus Core Flame and transformation from the Purple Nether Flame Snake body. The evolved body allows her to assume human form freely.

White, Green, and Yellow Snake Women — Dou Huang 272 A retrospective account reveals that their bloodline constitutions improved after their encounter with Su Qingyun. They subsequently help reclaim territory outside the desert.
White, Green, and Yellow Snake Women — Low-star Dou Zong 272 Advance further after giving birth to Su Qingyun’s children.
Queen Die — Nine-star Dou Zong 272 Reaches this level after miscarrying her child, with hatred toward the Hall of Souls driving her determination.

Territory and Settlements

  • Tagor Desert: Lies between several great empires. Their pressure confines the Snake-People to the desert despite the race possessing several Dou Huang and more than a dozen Dou Wang experts 91.
  • Eight tribal regions: Oases and camps surround Golden Snake City, each region governed by one of the Eight Great Leaders 88.
  • Golden Snake City: The race’s central stronghold and the location of Queen Medusa’s residence 88.
  • Medusa Divine Hall: The holiest place in Snake-People society. Its destruction during the imperial invasion provokes a desperate defense of the city 88 102.
  • Underground sanctuary: A secret chamber made from Deep Sand Mysterious Iron leads to the lake-filled world where Die is confined. White, Green, and Yellow guard its seal 93.
  • Reclaimed lands: Under Die’s rule, the three guardian snake women help recover large stretches of territory in the Chu Yun and Falling Goose empires, allowing migration to better environments 272.

Government and Society

Leadership

Position Responsibilities and Authority
Queen Highest leader of the race. “Medusa” is an inherited title rather than the current queen’s birth name, Zhu’er 81 87.
Eight Great Leaders Govern the eight principal tribal regions and assist the queen with tribal affairs 88.
Racial Elders Senior Dou Huang experts who expect influence over major decisions, including the queen’s marriage 90.
Queen Consort Traditional title for the queen’s husband 81.
Male Emperor Title granted to Su Qingyun. Medusa authorizes him to manage internal affairs if anything happens to her; the race subsequently accepts him as its first human king 107 111.
Desert Patrol Leaders Border commanders. Medusa appoints the three guardian snake women to these posts as punishment and to prepare for expansion beyond the desert 111.
  • Female superiority: Women manage tribal affairs, while men traditionally hunt, find water, and reproduce 81.
  • Access and service: Women have greater authority and more opportunities to enter the Divine Hall. Male snake-people are more likely to be assigned labor or military service 100.
  • Queen–elder tensions: The elders resent Medusa’s increasing independence, but her Half-step Dou Zong strength discourages open opposition 90.
  • Leadership by strength and loyalty: Medusa considers both elders and tribal leaders replaceable if stronger, more loyal clansmen become available 92.

Relations with Humans

  • Blood feud: Humans and Snake-People frequently clash. The Eight Great Leaders initially regard bringing a human into the Divine Hall as a defilement 76 89.
  • Abuse on both sides: Human captivity of snake-girls and sexual violence by snake-people against human women contribute to their hostile relationship 76.
  • Intermarriage taboo: Marriage between humans and Snake-People is traditionally condemned, and children of such unions are considered ominous by both communities 91.
  • Hybrid survival: Human–snake conception is exceptionally rare, and the resulting children generally struggle to survive beyond age two. Green Scales is an exception 76.
  • Su Qingyun’s acceptance: After he helps defend the race, almost no snake-person objects to his appointment as Male Emperor despite the established hostility toward humans 111.

Affection and Courtship

  • Snake-girls are described as finding it difficult to conceal their attraction once they fall in love 88.
  • The race is characterized as remaining faithful unto death after falling in love; Medusa invokes this commitment when refusing to abandon Su Qingyun during danger 160.
  • Elaborate wedding attire is not ordinarily a major concern, but Medusa’s royal wedding prompts exceptional preparations, including commissioned clothing and eight red carpets connecting Golden Snake City to the main tribes 91.

Appearance and Biology

  • Body structure: Snake-People possess humanlike upper bodies and serpentine lower bodies, moving by wriggling their tails 84 101.
  • Variation: Documented individuals have purple, white, green, yellow, or black tails; Brother Black identifies himself with the Black Snake Race 84 93 101.
  • Snake tongues: Medusa’s tongue is notably longer than a human woman’s 92.
  • Snake Guard: The outer tail layer can harden into a protective covering comparable to clothing or armor. Beneath it, the tail is sensitive and fragile, and touching it is reserved for those closest to the individual 84.
  • Bloodline evolution: Medusa transforms from a Purple Nether Flame Snake into a Seven-Colored Sky Swallowing Python 92 110.
  • Human transformation: Following that evolution and her Dou Zong breakthrough, Medusa can shed her tail and freely assume a human body 92 116.
  • Nine-Colored bloodline: Medusa and Su Qingyun’s unborn child manifests the potential of a Nine-Colored Swallowing Python. The elders regard this legendary bloodline as hope for the race’s future 109 110.

Abilities & Skills

Scent Detection

Snake-People can detect that an apparent tribesperson is an outsider by smell at close range 100.

  • Hai Bodong gives the effective detection distance as approximately ten meters 100.
  • Medicinal liquid refined from a snake-girl’s shed skin can imitate their scent when applied regularly, allowing Xiao Yan’s disguise to pass inspection 100.

Racial Secret Techniques

Snake-People possess bloodline-linked combat and sealing techniques 80 102 103.

  • Snake King Shield: Medusa uses this defensive secret technique against Yan Luotian’s attack 103.
  • Snake Sealing Curse: Temporarily disrupts Yan Luotian’s Dou Qi and realm. Medusa’s earlier Snake Curse also suppresses Hai Bodong’s cultivation for years 86 103.
  • Battlefield secret technique: The Eight Great Leaders employ a racial technique while fighting the imperial invaders 102.
  • Bloodline mobilization: The Great Elder uses his snake staff to stir the bloodline power of the defending Snake-People 102.
  • Snake spirit blood burning: Yue Mei burns her snake spirit blood during the defense of the Divine Hall 102.

Three Revolutions Spirit Snake Technique

White, Green, and Yellow cultivate this technique as prospective replacements for the racial elders 106.

  • Connects their hearts and minds, improving coordination.
  • Produces the Three Elements Shared Spirit state, allowing access to one another’s elemental attributes and part of one another’s Dou Qi.
  • Raises their combined combat strength, though it is explicitly weaker than the Mulan Three Elders’ Three Beast Desolate Technique 106.

Sealing and Confinement

  • Three Spirits Suppressing Emperor Seal: Restrains the Dou Huang-level Die and prevents her from escaping the underground sanctuary 93.
  • Forbidden cultivation seal: Die previously uses a forbidden technique to seal her own cultivation before defecting from the tribe 92.

Military and Equipment

  • Medusa Snake Guard: Patrols Golden Snake City’s walls with golden halberds; its chief captain, Hua She’er, is a Dou Wang, while a newly promoted squad captain is a Dou Ling 88.
  • Fortified archers: Fire silver-feathered golden arrows from the city’s turrets, threatening even Da Dou Shi intruders 88.
  • Senior defenders: Three Peak Dou Huang elders confront the Mulan Three Elders during the invasion 102.
  • Combined tribal defense: The Eight Great Leaders together hold a black-robed Dou Huang to a standstill, while Hua She’er and the Snake Guard resist Gu He’s group 101.
  • Hua She’er’s spear: Used during the defense of the Divine Hall 102.
  • Great Elder’s snake staff: Used to mobilize the defenders’ bloodline power 102.

  • Green Scales — A surviving human–snake hybrid rejected as inauspicious by both races; later possesses a bloodline that impresses Medusa 76 158.
  • Su Cai’er — Daughter of Medusa and Su Qingyun, whose existence he credits to his earlier encounter with Medusa 271.
  • Brother Black — Black Snake Race member who mistakes the disguised Xiao Yan for “Pink Girl” and proposes marriage 101.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Confinement in the Desert

The surrounding empires previously drive the Snake-People into the depths of the Tagor Desert. Golden Snake City and its oases become their remaining homeland, leaving them with nowhere safe to retreat during another invasion 91 102.

Die’s friendship with Hai Bodong and defection violate clan expectations. She is pursued by Snake-People experts and believed dead, but Medusa secretly preserves her in an underground sanctuary 92 93 94.

Royal Wedding and Imperial Invasion

Medusa brings Su Qingyun to Golden Snake City and announces their wedding despite hostility toward humans. News of both the marriage and the Green Lotus Core Flame attracts spies and powerful figures from neighboring empires 88 89 91.

Jia Ma experts attack from the east, Mulan forces from the west, and Chu Yun poison masters operate in the south. The fighting kills civilians and destroys the Divine Hall; the Mulan attackers demand the Heavenly Flame, treasure, and an annual tribute of three thousand young snake-girls 101 102 103.

Medusa completes her Dou Zong breakthrough, and Su Qingyun joins her against Yan Luotian. Yan Luotian and the Mulan Three Elders fall, many Chu Yun poison masters are killed, and Gu He and Fa Ma flee 102 109 110.

Reconstruction and Expansion

The battle destroys more than half of the desert’s scarce oases. Nevertheless, the surviving Snake-People begin reconstruction and accept Su Qingyun as their first human king 111.

Most damaged tribes finish repairs within two months. The guardian snake women undertake border missions, and their later territorial gains allow the race to migrate beyond its harsh desert environment 113 272.

Hall of Souls Crisis

After Medusa leaves, Die assumes leadership. The Hall of Souls targets Su Qingyun’s children to use them against him, placing the Snake-People under renewed threat. Die refuses to surrender the children, while the three guardian snake women contemplate sacrificing them to save the race 272.

Su Qingyun returns after years away, defeats the attacking Hall of Souls experts, and learns of the race’s hardships and Die’s miscarriage. Their suffering strengthens his resolve to take revenge 273.
