Background / History

The Soul Clan is an Ancient Great Clan whose influence extends through the Hall of Souls. The Hall gathers souls and operates across the Central Plains, while the Soul Clan's own forces include numerous Dou Sheng experts, Soul Clan Elders, and the Four Demon Saints. Their reserves are described as exceeding the expectations of the allied Ancient Clans. 179 288

Long before the main conflict, the Soul Clan targeted Old Yao, contributing to the destruction of his former life and forcing his soul to survive within a ring. 12

The clan sought the eight pieces of the Tou She Ancient God Jade, which together are said to open a Dou Di secret realm. Their investigation of Su Qingyun led them to the Xiao Clan, which they believed possessed a connection to the ancient Xiao Family and the jade. 179 182

Soul Realm

The Soul Realm is a hidden, movable space saturated with deathly aura, corrosive blood pools, yin wind, and soul-related phenomena. Its location is difficult for outsiders to determine, though Gu Yuan can track it through his Emperor Realm Soul Power. 285

The realm occupies a Place of Earth Soul, where soul power continuously rises from the earth vein. Hunt for the Xiao Clan

The Soul Clan investigates Su Qingyun's disappearance after the Hongshan Incident and discovers his relationship with Xiao Yan. Suspecting the Xiao Clan of being the ancient family connected to the Tou She Ancient God Jade, Soul Miesheng orders the capture of Xiao Clan members. 179

Soul Heavenly Emperor later decides to use Xiao Zhan and Xiao Ying as execution bait to force Xiao Yan and Su Qingyun to reveal themselves. Though the captives are tortured, the Soul Clan also raises their cultivation from Da Dou Shi to Dou Wang and Dou Emperor levels to keep them alive and useful. 208

War with the Central Plains

After the Hall of Souls attacks the Pill Region and continues pursuing Su Qingyun, the Medicine Clan, Flame Clan, Lei Clan, Yao Clan, Ancient Clan, Pill Tower, and allied forces begin organizing against the Soul Clan. 250 260 265

Su Qingyun devastates Soul Hall branches, annihilates the Black Rock City branch, destroys multiple Hall towers, and ultimately attacks the Hall of Souls headquarters. These actions force the conflict into the Soul Realm itself. 274 283 285

Recruitment, Marriage, and Saint Son Coronation

Soul Heavenly Emperor offers Su Qingyun a place in the Soul Clan and attempts to make him its foremost son-in-law. Su Qingyun refuses the offer of alliance, but is later forced into marriage with Hun Ling'er amid the Soul Realm siege. 286 287 295

While appearing to submit, Su Qingyun negotiates protection for the Xiao Clan and those close to him. Soul Heavenly Emperor then grants him the title of Soul Clan Saint Son, a decision accepted without opposition by the Elders and Four Demon Saints. 307 308

Betrayal of the Saint Son

Despite elevating Su Qingyun through the Great Sacrifice Method, Soul Heavenly Emperor intends to refine him into an Emperor Pill. He conceals the plan from the rest of the Soul Clan, believing Su Qingyun's innate Immortal Origin Qi can help him break through to the Emperor Realm. 310 313 318

When the truth becomes known, Soul Clan experts lose the will to oppose the rescue force. The Elders openly condemn Soul Heavenly Emperor for refining the Saint Son and choose to defy him. 318 319

Defeat and Aftermath

Su Qingyun escapes the Soul Refining Divine Cauldron, takes control of the Death Gates, and leads the final defeat of the Soul Clan's resisting experts. 320 323

The surviving Soul Clan members who surrender are implanted with seals and assigned as Gravekeepers for the Central Plains Martyrs' Memorial Cemetery, where the fallen of the Soul Realm war are buried. 324
