Background

Yoru arrived in the shinobi world from a previous life and had lived there for twelve years by the beginning of the story. Believing the Uchiha Clan was being isolated and destined for destruction, he resolved to push the clan into Konoha's political center rather than accept its decline. 1

A little over a year after graduating as a Genin, Yoru had already reached the level of an ordinary Chunin through wartime experience, clan ninjutsu, swordsmanship, and shurikenjutsu. He was formally promoted to Chunin after awakening the Sharingan. 5 16

His awakening of two incompatible bloodlines made him valuable but medically unstable. Tsunade treated and studied him, while the Uchiha Clan funded stabilizing medication and positioned him as a link to both Tsunade and the future Nine-Tails jinchūriki, Uzumaki Kushina. 10 14 20

Despite his manipulative methods, he repeatedly frames his ambitions around ending the Uchiha's isolation, stabilizing Konoha, and eventually reshaping the shinobi world.
