Identity and Incarnations

Tang San is presented through multiple connected forms. The God-Realm Sea God and Asura God watches and interferes with events on Douluo Continent, while a lower-realm incarnation is described as his avatar or clone. The latter develops independent ambitions and openly condemns the original Sea God Tang San as selfish. 250 256 550

  • Sea God Tang San — A dual God King who wields Sea God divine power and the Sea God Trident. His divine soul can descend to Douluo Continent. 28 681 682
  • Reborn Tang San — Awakens on Sea God Island ten thousand years after the Sea God’s era, determined to reclaim Tang San’s former glory and surpass the counterpart he considers inadequate. 180
  • Lower-realm avatar / clone — The incarnation studying at Shrek Academy. Although created from Sea God Tang San, it resents the original’s attempts to use it and seeks to replace him. 250 256 550

Background

Tang San founded the Tang Sect and later became both the Sea God and Asura God. Ten thousand years after his rise, the Tang Sect had declined severely; when the Iron Blood Sect massacred its members, Tang San watched from the God Realm and covertly ensured that Tang Ya survived. 148

He views the Tang Sect’s restoration as both a personal duty and a means of influence. When Huo Yuhao emerged as a new Child of Fortune, Tang San planned to use him and his sister to revive the Tang Sect and reassert control over the Douluo Plane’s future. 175

A reborn incarnation later awakens on Sea God Island after Xiao Wu’s death. Guided by the Great Priest Bo Saibei, he learns that he has arrived ten thousand years after the Sea God’s era, awakens the same twin martial souls, and resolves to ally Sea God Island with Shrek Academy. 180

In the Star Dou Great Forest, he kills a wisdom-awakened baboon, hunts a Thousand-Year Mandala Snake, and encounters Tang Ya. He claims that his parents were Tang Sect members who had died, then accepts her invitation to join the Tang Sect. 182

Appearance

Tang San initially appears as an ordinary-looking boy of approximately eleven or twelve years old. At Shrek, he is described as a slender twelve-year-old with an unremarkable face. 180 203 308

  • Later appears with blue hair and a noticeably effeminate or androgynous bearing after Dugu Luo’s actions against him. 693 696
  • His altered condition includes the loss of his Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone, weakening him in battle. 696
  • While suffering Dugu Luo’s poison, his skin becomes swollen, blue-purple, and covered with toxic blisters. 672

Personality

Tang San possesses intense pride in his identity, legacy, and superiority. He considers himself the rightful pinnacle of genius, looks down on rivals such as Huo Yuhao, and expects the Tang Sect’s history and authority to be respected. 180 435

He is calculating and willing to manipulate others to secure the Tang Sect’s revival or his own survival. The God-Realm Tang San intends to shape Huo Yuhao’s future, while the lower incarnation accepts Tang Ya’s plans because refusal could risk his erasure. 175 256

His restraint is unreliable when his pride is wounded. He frequently experiences murderous impulses, employs poisoned hidden weapons, and struggles to suppress Asura Killing Intent. 250 275 288 435

Tang San also dismisses Soul Tools as inferior to Tang Sect hidden weapons, treating Soul Tool study as useful only insofar as it can improve hidden weapons. 288 418

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possesses the same two martial souls associated with the Tang Sect’s ancestor: Blue Silver Grass—later revealed to carry the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline—and the Clear Sky Hammer. 180 194 610

  • Blue Silver Overlord Spear — His Fifth Spirit Skill, forming a spear from the Blue Silver Emperor. 696

  • The Clear Sky Hammer initially lacks attached spirit rings and can be suppressed by opponents with stronger ring configurations. 275

  • King Yama’s Post — A nearly invisible poisoned projectile used against Dugu Luo while he is incapacitated. 671

Mysterious Heaven Skill and Asura Killing Intent

Tang San uses the Mysterious Heaven Skill’s Devouring Power to suppress his escalating killing intent. 288

  • His Asura Killing Intent can surge beyond his control when enraged. 275 435
  • His reliance on killing intent and poison has led others to compare his conduct to that of an Evil Spirit Master. 208 435
  • He remains vulnerable to stronger poison arts; Dugu Luo critically poisons him despite his own hidden-weapon expertise. 671 672

Sea God and Asura Divine Power

As Sea God Tang San, he possesses divine power far exceeding his lower-realm incarnation’s strength. 28 681

  • Sea God Trident — His divine weapon, wielded alongside Water Element divine power. 681 682
  • Unfixed Waves — A divine technique intended to immobilize a target before Tang San forcibly controls them through Spiritual Power. 682
  • Divine soul descent — Can inject his divine soul into objects or invitations to contact and lure individuals on Douluo Continent. 27 681
  • A wisp of his divine soul is vulnerable to vastly superior forces; the Dragon Soul captures and refines it into a treasure orb. 27 28

  • Hidden weapons — Concealed projectiles, including poisoned weapons and King Yama’s Post. 250 671

  • Sea God Tang San — God-Realm original and source of the lower avatar; their goals increasingly diverge as the clone comes to resent the original’s selfishness. 250 550
  • Tang Ya — Tang Sect Master who recruits him into the sect and regards him as its hope for revival; they possess a Blue Silver Martial Soul Fusion Skill, but their relationship becomes increasingly hostile. 182 207 435
  • Bei Bei — Tang Sect senior whose devotion to Tang Ya turns him into Tang San’s rival and frequent opponent. 193 308 604
  • Bo Saibei — Sea God Island’s Great Priest, who recognizes Tang San as a Child of God and arranges his martial soul awakening. 180
  • Mu En — Sea God Pavilion Master who sees Tang San as a possible continuation of Ancestor Tang San’s legacy. 204 300
