The Root of All Evil
This is a dimly lit room.
The room was very spacious, but there wasn't much light. Only a series of sophisticated instruments were operating, providing some light so that it wasn't pitch black.
In this dimly lit room, there were also Culture Tank filled with liquid.
All of these Culture Tank were in operation, and the liquid inside was boiling as if it were being boiled.
However, these Culture Tank all had test tubes connected to the deepest part of the room, eventually leading to a huge Culture Tank that connected the ceiling and the floor, where the liquid inside gradually changed color.
Such a scene is somewhat chilling.
Then, at a certain moment, the door to the dimly lit room suddenly moved.
"Clang clang clang clang clang—!"
With a series of slashing sounds, the door suddenly cracked open, revealing white lines as it was sliced into countless pieces by a sharp weapon.
"Bang—!"
The next moment, the door suddenly burst open, letting in the light from outside and illuminating the entire room.
"Beep—beep—beep—beep—!"
Inside the room, the red alarm lights activated and sounded, causing the entire room to flash red continuously.
Immediately, a figure slowly walked in from outside the door, entered the room, and saw the scene before him.
The one who came was naturally Fang Li.
As Fang Li looked around at the Culture Tank filled with boiling liquid and murmured to himself.
"It's practically like an underground research institute."
In fact, this place can indeed be considered an underground research institute.
At least, the research here is both clandestine and indeed being carried out by someone.
Fang Li walked into the research institute, passing by the Culture Tank, and headed to the deepest part of the room.
"Bang----!"
Just then, a loud voice came from behind Fang Li.
That sound was coming from the direction of the doorway.
Suddenly, another door appeared on the door that Fang Li had damaged, sealing the room shut once more.
Fang Li paused slightly, but quickly regained his balance and continued walking forward as if nothing had happened, venturing deeper into the room.
Fang Li stopped only when he arrived in front of the huge Culture Tank.
Then, Fang Li stared at the Culture Tank that was changing color, completely speechless.
"I see..." Fang Li exclaimed in amazement, as if all her doubts had been resolved.
"Is this why Aphrodite is so determined to attack the Russian Branch?"
Inside that enormous Culture Tank, there was actually a pair of arms.
A pair of arms, entirely white and incredibly smooth, exuding the softness and fragility of a woman's jade hands.
Looking at those arms, Fang Li recalled Aphrodite's features.
Aphrodite, also known as Venus, is a Greek Goddess and the famous one-armed beauty.
The Forbidden Kind, the Wild God, which was given this name, also had no arms.
Fang Li had always believed that Aphrodite had never had arms from the beginning.
However, Fang Li was wrong.
It wasn't just Fang Li was wrong; everyone in the world who knew of Aphrodite's existence was wrong.
"Aphrodite does not lack arms at all; her arms are right here."
Therefore, Aphrodite launched a massive attack in order to reclaim her arm.
"I should have thought of that sooner."
It's important to know that Aphrodite's ability is to release strange hormones that attract and manipulate Aragami.
On the day Fang Li was framed, the modified Aragami Landmine he possessed was injected with a hormone that could attract Aragami.
Where those hormones came from is now something we don't even need to think about anymore.
"These arms are the root of all evil."
Fang Li's statement immediately drew a dissenting voice.
How can you say that? It's innocent!
Such a voice appeared abruptly in the room and clearly reached Fang Li's ears.
However, Fang Li showed no surprise whatsoever, simply staring at the enormous Culture Tank and speaking indifferently.
"Since you've been here all along, there's no need to hide anymore."
As soon as he finished speaking, a voice rang out, sounding like a half-smile.
"I wasn't hiding. You said it yourself, I've been here from the very beginning."
Following this statement, a person in military uniform gradually emerged from the shadows beside the huge Culture Tank, came to the front of the Culture Tank, and faced Fang Li.
The newcomer was none other than the captain.
"I thought it was someone from the First Unit who infiltrated, but it turns out to be a disrespectful soldier like you." The captain sneered and said, "You're lucky to have survived. It must have been Alisa Irina Amiella who saved you, right?"
"You can think that way if you want," Fang Li answered the captain's question in a nonchalant tone, then asked with a half-smile, "Should I call you Captain, or Mr. Rollwright?"
Upon hearing this, Captain Rollwright simply smiled nonchalantly.
"It seems you've already learned quite a bit of information from the terminal. Call me whatever you like."
As she said this, Rollwright spread her arms out to Fang Li, as if showing off something, and asked this question.
"How is it? Isn't it beautiful?"
What Rollwright was referring to was naturally the pair of arms immersed in the Culture Tank.
"Ten years have passed, yet it remains exactly the same. Although I have tried my best to maintain it, it seems unnecessary. It has the characteristic of not decaying or disappearing, so it has always been so beautiful."
Rollwright's tone was full of pride.
"Those who know of its existence like to call it by the code name 'α,' but I prefer to call it by another name: Eros."
"It's clearly part of Aphrodite's body, yet they gave it a different name, and even the name of Eros, which should have belonged to Aphrodite's son." Fang Li curled his lip and said, "Don't you think that's a lot of unnecessary trouble?"
"Unnecessary?" Rollwright laughed immediately.
However, in Rollwright's eyes, there was not a trace of a smile, only endless anger.
He looked exactly like a fanatical believer whose faith had been corrupted.
"You don't understand anything at all."
As she said this, Rollwright gripped a gun and pointed it at Fang Li.
The atmosphere suddenly became tense.
