It was nighttime.

Above the Royal Capital, the capital of the Belzerg Kingdom, the stars shone like countless lamps, illuminating the earth and bathing the kingdom's capital, situated upon the vast plains, in starlight. Combined with the lights glowing from every household, the scene carried a peaceful atmosphere.

A meteor silently streaked across the night sky, descending toward the summit of a mountain not far from the Royal Capital.

Naturally, the meteor's true form was Fang Li.

Holding a young girl in his arms, Fang Li descended from the air and landed atop the mountain.

"Tap..."

The distinct sound of landing rang out softly, breaking the surrounding silence.

The disturbance seemed to awaken some restless beings nearby. Pairs of scarlet eyes began to light up amid the grass and forest, like ferocious beasts stalking prey in the darkness, filling the air with a trace of hostility.

Yet what answered that hostility was an astonishing killing intent that suddenly swept through the area.

"Huh?" Alice froze.

"What?" Fang Li said with a faintly amused smile. "You don't want to go back?"

"N-No, that's not it..." Alice hurriedly shook her head. Then, as though hesitating over something, she timidly asked, "You're really just letting me go?"

"Otherwise?" Fang Li said indifferently. "Did you really think I was some thief who came after you?"
