Lin Xian replied calmly, "Not necessarily. I'll have to take a look first."
Jiang Yun gave him an appraising look, then nodded. "That's no problem. Some Federal Phoenix Society relief stations actually have more standardized versions of this device. But because of the polar night, all the relief stations are constantly moving. The permanent Underground Cities might have them too, but once the polar night covers them, supplies have a hard time getting in, and people have a hard time getting out."
"As for information on evolving abilities..." Jiang Yun forced a smile and glanced around. "All I can tell you is that every ability evolves in a different way, through different means. You'll have to specify the ability. If it's one of the types the Phoenix Association has published information on, I can tell you directly. Otherwise, I'm not sure anyone here would know. And even if they did..."
"What, you can trade secrets like that too?" Kiki asked.
Jiang Yun nodded meaningfully. "Yes, but not always. There are too many kinds of abilities now. Even with simple, common abilities like Limb Mimicry and Aberrant Form Proliferation, evolving isn't as easy as just consuming flesh and blood. Some people succeed, while others fail. That might have something to do with how far their ability has developed, or with their mental power, or the type of flesh and blood they consume. A lot of it is uncertain. So even if someone selflessly shares how they evolved, their method might not be right for you. It varies from person to person."
"And another thing," Jiang Yun added pointedly, "even if someone tells you, how do you know whether they're telling the truth?"
Lin Xian's expression shifted slightly at Jiang Yun's words.
Abilities were apparently far more complicated than he had imagined.
