Background

Mo Bai develops Blue Silver Grass around its leaves rather than the control-oriented approach Tang San takes with his own spirit. Before its first evolution, Mo Bai finds the grass too weak to use as a hidden weapon: even readily available sand and stones have greater destructive power. He therefore seeks soul rings that will improve its hardness, sharpness, and other physical qualities 12 23.

That approach leaves him with soul skills he initially considers weak, but steadily improves the leaves he can pluck and throw. Tang San’s awakened Blue Silver Emperor later exposes a major limitation: its bloodline pressure makes Mo Bai’s Blue Silver Grass refuse his commands. Mo Bai subsequently eats A Yin’s Blue Silver Emperor true body to overcome that suppression, and his martial soul evolves into a Blue Silver Emperor of his own 25 65 152 158 160.

Appearance

The martial soul retains recognizable grasslike stalks throughout its evolution, while its leaves increasingly resemble blades 16 160 175.

• After the first ring: A stalk nearly half a meter tall, bearing leaves that resemble a blend of Blue Silver Grass and sword bamboo 16.
• As Blue Silver Emperor: Metallic, swordlike leaves with pale-gold vein patterns 160.
• As Dark Blue Silver Emperor: A dark-red sheen, golden-red leaf patterns, and intermittent black lightning; later, fully metallic but still flexible leaves 166 175.

Blue Silver Sword Leaves

Mo Bai’s principal fighting method uses sharpened leaves as hidden weapons or as a mass of controlled projectiles 16 23 132.

• Directly plucked leaves are sturdier than the leaves produced by his early Blue Silver Sword Rain 16.
• Blue Silver Dance lets leaves separate from growing stalks and hover around Mo Bai for quick use; it is a control technique, not a soul skill 28.
• Myriad Leaves Flying Flower Stream develops that control into large-scale attacks driven by mental strength and soul power. Its leaves fly more slowly than those thrown with Mo Bai’s Hidden Weapon Technique, but are easier to control in numbers 132.
• Mo Bai uses Blue Silver Sword Leaves against Tang San’s Haotian Hammer and Sea God Trident, combining freely controlled leaves with hand-thrown hidden weapon techniques 235.

Soul-Ring Skills

• Blue Silver Sword Rain — First Soul Skill: Fires dozens of leaves over an area. Early on, one use consumes one-fifth of Mo Bai’s soul power, while its dispersed attacks are easily blocked; it gains more killing power as the grass strengthens 16 70.
• Blue Silver Blocking — Second Soul Skill: Grows stalks into a defensive wall. It initially shatters and burns readily under the Dean’s fire attack, but later improvements in toughness make it practical for defense 25 86.
• Dark Gold Terror Claw — Fourth Soul Skill: Strengthens Mo Bai’s arms and adds a fifteen-percent penetration effect. Mo Bai notes that this skill affects his body rather than the grass itself 66.
• Absorb — Sixth Soul Skill: Turns the stalk tips into suction-producing maws that can swallow targets and draw them into Mo Bai when he recalls his spirit. Some enormous soul beasts remain too large to devour this way 147.

Elemental Traits and Domain

• Fire resistance: The grass gains limited fire immunity after Mo Bai consumes the Ten-Headed Fiery Sun Serpent’s Inner Core 146.
• Flame Jet: Uses the grass’s wind and fire traits to propel Mo Bai in flight or accelerate Myriad Leaves Flying Flower Stream; the latter application doubles the leaves’ speed 147.
• Blue Silver Emperor Domain: Mo Bai can command Blue Silver Grass across a hundred-mile radius. He uses the domain to demand half the life force of the grass within it 219.
