Background / History

Tang San entered Notting Academy alongside Mo Bai and became Yu Xiao Gang’s disciple after recognizing the latter’s Spirit knowledge. He trusted Yu Xiao Gang’s theory enough to risk absorbing the Mandala Snake’s Soul Ring, successfully becoming the first confirmation that a plant-type Spirit could absorb an animal-type Soul Beast ring. The absorption also brought his Xuan Tian Gong to its first level 5 10 11.

He developed a close bond with Xiao Wu, whose interest in him was initially prompted by the strange familiarity she sensed from him 9. After Tang Hao revealed that Xiao Wu was a 100,000-year Soul Beast in human form, Tang San affirmed that he loved her regardless and resolved to become strong enough to protect her 59.

Tang San’s early rivalry with Mo Bai revolved around Blue Silver Grass and Hidden Weapons. Though impressed by Mo Bai’s innovation in using Blue Silver Grass as projectiles, Tang San remained committed to mechanical Hidden Weapons. He lost their Academy duel after exhausting his weapons first, which led him to pursue stronger and more numerous mechanisms 23 28 29.

During the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament, Tang San defeated Hu Liena and fought Mo Bai. With the Seven-in-One Fusion Skill, he briefly wielded the Haotian Avatar, but Mo Bai’s hidden strength and Soul Skills overwhelmed him. Tang San was severely injured, lost his left eye, and learned that Xiao Wu’s 100,000-year Soul Ring had been taken by Mo Bai 111 116 123.

Tang Hao subsequently trained him in the Chaotic Cloak Hammer Technique, Great Sumeru Hammer, and Ring Detonation Mysteries. Tang San’s hatred of Mo Bai drove his rapid progress, while Tang Hao prepared him to awaken his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline 131 136. After awakening, Tang San helped relocate A Yin to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well and later returned to Shrek Academy at level 57 146 150.

His hostility toward Spirit Hall deepened after learning that Tang Hao and Hao Bao had been killed. Tang San vowed revenge and built strength through the Tang Sect and his allies 161 163. He later obtained the Sea God’s inheritance and undertook the Sea God Nine Trials, but Mo Bai’s continued survival reignited their conflict 199 231.

Appearance

Tang San was left blind in his left eye after Mo Bai gouged it out during the tournament aftermath 123. By the time he returned to Shrek Academy, his ordeal and subsequent growth had changed his appearance so greatly that Yu Xiao Gang initially struggled to recognize him 150.

Personality

Tang San is determined, loyal, and highly confident in his own abilities. He trusted Yu Xiao Gang’s unproven Soul Ring theory, volunteered to confront Hu Liena despite her Soul King rank, and repeatedly pushed himself through dangerous training and battle 10 110 131.

His strongest attachments are to Xiao Wu, Tang Hao, A Yin, and Yu Xiao Gang. The loss of Xiao Wu, his injuries at Mo Bai’s hands, and later news of his parents’ deaths turned his determination into a consuming desire for vengeance against Mo Bai and Spirit Hall 119 125 161.

He can also be proud and confrontational. At the Haotian Sect, he openly scolded the elders for failing to protect his parents before BiBi Dong and Qian Renxue attacked 228.

Tang San’s primary Spirit began as Blue Silver Grass but later awakened into the Blue Silver Emperor.
