Yu Xiaogang followed Teacher Mo through the crowd of students. Seeing the teacher leave, the students who had just been gathered around to watch the commotion could not resist boasting to the newly arrived students from afar:
"Hey! You got here too late. Too bad you didn't see it—there was a Soul Elder who brought out three soul rings without even summoning his martial soul. One look scared the gatekeeper limp! So cool! I'm going to absorb a purple Thousand-Year Soul Ring someday too!"
The female student beside him curled her lips in disdain.
"Tch! You'll be lucky if your First Soul Ring is even a hundred years old, and you want a thousand-year one? You don't look like much, but you sure dream big! I think you should just get a white ten-year soul ring for your first one. A Work-Study Student like you should stop daydreaming!"
"You!! Hmph! A real man doesn't fight with women! Long hair, short sight! I have Innate Soul Power at rank 2. I'll definitely make it someday!"
The boy was immediately displeased. As the boss of Dorm Seven and the leader of this year's work-study students, he promptly shot back.
"Oh? Our academy's Boss Su Yuntao is so ambitious, huh? I'll be waiting to see it! Let's go. Class is about to start. Don't waste time on these stupid work-study students."
After saying that, the girl turned and led a flock of female students away with their heads held high. Before leaving, they covered their mouths and giggled at the work-study students.
"Si Si, just wait! I'll do it someday! I swear!"
Su Yuntao's face immediately turned bright red, whether from anger or embarrassment was unclear, as he shouted back.
Ever since his martial soul and bloodline had broken through, Yu Xiaogang's hearing had greatly improved. His ears twitched. He had not expected to encounter the famously blind-eyed Douluo from the original story, Su Yuntao, along with the Si Si who dumped him. So their ill-fated relationship had started here. Kids on Douluo Continent sure matured early—they already knew how to show off in front of girls. This was youth! After passing through the teaching district and reaching the faculty building, they climbed to the top floor, where the dean's office was located. Teacher Mo stepped forward and knocked on the door.
"Dean Kahn, I've brought Master Yu Xiaogang, whom you instructed me to receive."
"Good! Please come in. Teacher Mo, go ahead and attend to your work. I can receive him from here. I haven't seen this old friend of mine in three years. Have Abby prepare a pot of tea. I'm going to have a proper catch-up with him today."
A warm male voice came from inside the office.
"Yes, Dean. Please come in, Master Yu Xiaogang."
With that, Teacher Mo personally opened the door and gestured respectfully for Yu Xiaogang to enter. Once he was inside, Teacher Mo withdrew, casually shut the door, and left.
"It's been a long time, Kahn! Looks like you've been doing quite well these past few years. You've even become a dean. You used to be the Dean of Instruction."
Yu Xiaogang smiled at the figure standing before the enormous floor-to-ceiling window.
"Stop making fun of me, Yu Xiaogang. It's been nearly three years since we last met, hasn't it? If it weren't for the Golden Iron Triangle helping me back then, I probably wouldn't have made it back alive. I just saw you activate three soul rings at the gate from up here. You finally got your wish!"
Dean Kahn turned around, his face full of delight as he congratulated his old friend on fulfilling his long-held wish.
"It took me eight wasted years to break through. Just luck, luck! Kahn, though, you're doing quite well as dean. I'm tired of all the disputes and trouble across the continent now. I want to find a quiet place to keep proving my theories, and my new theories will need to be combined with practical application. That's why I came to find you. Once I've finished revising them, I'll need your help publishing them!"
Yu Xiaogang put on a despondent expression, and seeing it, Kahn immediately comforted him.
"Yu Xiaogang, I believe your theories are right. Haven't you broken through rank 30? This may only be a junior soul master academy, but taking on one more teacher won't be a problem. I believe you'll realize your theories here!"
Kahn had seen everything clearly from the floor-to-ceiling window, since the dean's office was the highest point in the academy. Moreover, this old friend had already broken through rank 30 and had likely used himself as an experiment, surely verifying some new theoretical knowledge. After all, even ordinary people with Innate Half Level Soul Power found it difficult to break through rank 20! Yu Xiaogang, Yu Xiaogang, you've finally come to your senses. Unproven theoretical knowledge would always remain mere theory. Starting now, proving your theories yourself would no longer be a joke.
"Yu Xiaogang, I'm truly looking forward to your new work!"
Kahn spoke frankly, his anticipation evident.
"You won't have to wait long, old friend! I am a master of theory!"
Yu Xiaogang was brimming with confidence. He was no longer the useless Yu Xiaogang from before. With Deep Blue, his cheat, helping him, he would certainly put forth new theories and real data to conquer those hidebound natives of Douluo Continent.
After that, Yu Xiaogang and Kahn spoke to each other about the events of the past few years, briefly touching on why he had separated from Flender and Liu Erlong.
Kahn comforted Yu Xiaogang as he said:
"Yu Xiaogang, this isn't entirely your fault. Fate plays cruel tricks."
"It's fine. It's all in the past now. I just don't know how I'll face Second Dragon Sister in the future."
Yu Xiaogang spoke with an expression like he was badly constipated. Only now did he remember the enormous mess the original Yu Xiaogang had left him. A possessive Bibi Dong was not enough; now there was his even more troublesome cousin, Liu Erlong. What was Yu Xiaogang, a complete novice in romance, supposed to do? He had absolutely no way to handle something like this.
No wonder online commenters said everyone on Douluo Continent had love-struck brains. He used to joke about it, but now he had fallen right into it himself.
Kahn had nothing to say either. It was too thorny a matter. He could only sigh as the two continued chatting about everything under the sun. Recently, the two brothers of the Clear Sky Sect had been the center of attention across the continent. They had simultaneously become the youngest Soul Douluos on Douluo Continent, with hopes of becoming the youngest Titled Douluos in its history! They had even earned the nickname Clear Sky Twin Stars, and their fame was unmatched for a time.
Kahn's face was full of envy. He had neither the resources of a great sect to nurture him nor much talent himself. He could only serve as dean at this remote Notting City Junior Soul Master Academy, teaching and raising the next generation. He had entrusted his hopes to these children, hoping that one of the children who left here might become a Soul Saint or Soul Douluo. As for a Titled Douluo, he did not dare dream that far.
The more they spoke, the more they hit it off. Yu Xiaogang began explaining his Earth-style scientific methods of physical training and asked for Kahn's support. Kahn pounded his chest and promised to support him without question.
Yu Xiaogang planned to establish an Elite Class and gather the most talented students together, testing the knockoff version of the Life Nurturing Skill he had created. He wanted to see whether it could allow others to absorb soul rings beyond their usual age limit, as well as observe its effects on their bodies and martial souls. He also wanted to find out whether absorbing soul beasts compatible with one's martial soul and bloodline could promote Martial Soul Evolution.
Yu Xiaogang intended to have Deep Blue secretly scan and record the students' martial souls and physical data, enriching Deep Blue's database so it could better fulfill its role as a super artificial intelligence.
Yu Xiaogang realized that time was truly a little tight now. Teaching students, conducting Soul Tool research and development, researching artificial soul beasts, and studying the Blue Silver Grass Network—none of the latter had even taken shape yet. He felt that during the period before Tang San arrived through transmigration, Yu Xiaogang would not be lonely.
He was definitely taking Tang San as his disciple. Yu Xiaogang said so! Just imagining what changes Tang San, an ancient man, would undergo after being molded by Yu Xiaogang's modern ideas made Yu Xiaogang feel that his hands were beyond his control. It felt as if he were missing a whip from his hand—pah! No, a teaching pointer!
