Origins

Xiao Wu was born to Ah Rou, a Soft Bone Rabbit, and a ten-thousand-year Lightning Rabbit also named Xiao Wu. Her father chose the name because he was the fifth child of his family, while Ah Rou gave their daughter the same name through a homophone. When Xiao Wu's father left to seek a breakthrough at the hundred-thousand-year bottleneck, he was hunted by human Soul Masters and never returned. 106

Ah Rou raised Xiao Wu while also sheltering the Sky Azure Bull Python and Titan Giant Ape, Da Ming and Er Ming, after they had been pursued by humans. Xiao Wu grew up protected in the Star Dou Great Forest, where Da Ming and Er Ming regarded her as their elder sister. 106 201

During Qian Xunji's pursuit of Ah Rou, Xiao Wu escaped while her mother drew the attackers away. Ah Rou later sacrificed herself to Yu Xiaogang, leaving behind a Soul Ring and Spirit Bone while asking him to protect Xiao Wu and preserve her soul. 106 111

Entering the Human World

After sensing Ah Rou's aura at the edge of the Star Dou Great Forest, Xiao Wu resolved to find her mother. Despite Da Ming and Er Ming's concerns, she transformed into a human and left the forest. 200 201

Di Tian gave her a Black-Gold Scale and a secret technique to conceal her Soul Beast aura. The protection can hide her identity unless she releases intense power in battle. 201

Her confidence initially conceals considerable fear of human Soul Masters. Ah Rou's persecution taught Xiao Wu that transformed hundred-thousand-year soul beasts are hunted for their Soul Rings and Spirit Bones; when Yu Xiaogang identifies her true nature, she immediately fears being killed. 213
