Night blanketed the city. Only scattered pedestrians remained on the streets, and the occasional carriage passed by, its hoofbeats ringing crisply over the cobblestones. Ang wore his Shadow Robe, making his figure seem even more profound beneath the streetlamps. He had no intention of returning to his previous inn. After all, he had already paid enough for his lodging, and even if he did not check out, it would not draw much attention. Besides, having just gone through a fierce battle with Black Mages, he knew his whereabouts might already have been exposed. Staying where he was would only be asking for trouble.

The most important thing now is to find somewhere else to lie low. Ang calmly calculated in his heart, his gaze vigilantly sweeping the surroundings as he tried to avoid drawing attention. He quietly circled through several alleys and soon reached the outskirts of the teleportation square.

The teleportation square was still brightly lit. People came and went as though night had not affected it in the slightest. Groups of adventurers and merchants gathered in twos and threes, either discussing their destinations or talking about recent news. At the center of the square stood a massive teleportation gate, its surface rippling with magical light like water. Flickering runes occasionally swept across it, carrying an air of mystery. Warm light shone from the gate management office, where quite a few people were lined up to buy passage tickets.

Ang stood in the distance, his gaze sweeping over the square. He pulled his hood lower to avoid being recognized, then quickly headed toward a nearby inn. The inn looked unassuming from the outside, but a trace of warmth spilled from its lights, and a wooden sign reading "Welcome" hung by the entrance. Ang pushed the door open and entered.
