Uchiha Chen recovered from a poisoned mission as Konoha entered war with the Land of Rain, then led his team on reconnaissance in the Land of Rain. After an Iwa-nin trap forced the team to flee and Yura stayed behind, Chen encountered Konan, Yahiko, Nagato, and Little One, and Yahiko asked him to teach them Ninjutsu.

• Uchiha Chen defeated Sakamoto with Chidori, but Tsunade had to rescue him from Sakamoto’s final Earth Release and take him to Shikkotsu Forest for treatment.
• Uchiha Chen recovered in Konoha Hospital as rumors about his exploits spread, and he and Minato suspected his mission had helped spark the Second Great Ninja War.
• Sarutobi Hiruzen declared war on the Land of Rain, while Utatane Koharu urged Chen to join Tsunade’s team and he refused.
• Uzumaki Mito died after telling Chen to protect Kushina, and Kushina became the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki before returning to the Ninja Academy.
• Uchiha Chen, Mikoto, and Nawaki deployed with Konoha’s forces, and Orochimaru appointed Chen captain of their reconnaissance team in the Land of Rain.
• Yura brought Chen’s team to an Anbu intelligence unit, where they encountered captured Iwa-nin and walked into a trap that destroyed the outpost.
• Yura led Chen’s team away from ten pursuing Iwa-nin and volunteered to stay behind as bait, while Chen’s left Sharingan awakened its Three Tomoe.
• Uchiha Chen welcomed Konan, Yahiko, Nagato, and Little One into the cave, and Yahiko followed him out to ask for Ninjutsu lessons.

Uchiha Chen helped Hatake Sakumo face Roshi and the Four-Tails, then led Konoha fighters into a battle against Iwagakure and Sunagakure. After crippling Rasa, Chen joined Shinnosuke and Enma in confronting Shukaku, whose rampage still threatened the battlefield.

• Uchiha Chen, Mikoto, and Nawaki ambushed Gari’s squad, but Roshi arrived and forced Chen into a desperate fight until Hatake Sakumo intervened.
• Uchiha Chen supported Hatake Sakumo against Roshi, but the Four-Tails took control of Roshi and unleashed its power, prompting Chen’s team to seek reinforcements.
• Orochimaru promoted Uchiha Chen to Chunin and put him in charge of his team, then Chen joined Shikaku, Choza, Inoichi, and others on patrol as several enemy forces attacked Konoha.
• Uchiha Chen led the group through the fighting, rescued Sarutobi Shinnosuke, and gathered Konoha ninja to break through the enemy lines toward the main battlefield.
• Uchiha Chen fought alongside Konoha’s reinforcements as Chiyo deployed the Chikamatsu Ten Puppets against Hyuga Tenko, who destroyed them with a powerful technique.

Uchiha Chen helped Konoha win the war in the Land of Rain and began building a secret alliance with Minato. After returning with his team, Chen investigated Sunagakure’s grain supply and tracked a group of enemy ninja, ending with a mysterious girl in their midst.

• Uchiha Chen summoned Kirin to blast Shukaku apart, and Konoha’s forces sealed the Tailed Beast as the Sand and Ame shinobi retreated.
• Hanzō spared Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru, naming them the Konoha Sannin, and Konoha defeated the remaining Iwa-nin.
• Uchiha Chen recovered from the battle, then told Minato that the ninja villages’ competing interests caused war and proposed uniting them to rebuild the world’s order.
• Orochimaru assigned Chen to escort supplies toward Konoha, where Sunagakure ambushed the convoy and Chen fought alongside Sakumo to protect the wounded.
• Tsunade proposed training a Medical Ninja for every squad after learning how many Konoha shinobi had died in the ambush.
• Orochimaru sent Chen, Minato, Mikoto, and Nawaki to investigate supplies reaching Sunagakure from the Land of Fire.

Uchiha Chen uncovered Sunagakure’s dealings with the Twelve Guardian Ninja, returned to Konoha, and became entangled in clan politics and new plans for his allies. As Uchiha Yama prepared to protect the Daimyo, Chen helped Yakushi Nonō and began to suspect Root had played a role in her past.

• Uchiha Chen and his team fought Pakura’s squad, exposed the Sunagakure captain’s meeting with Ryoma, and battled the Twelve Guardian Ninja, culminating in Chen’s Kirin clashing with their lightning technique.
• Back in Konoha, the Hokage’s leaders chose the Uchiha Clan to guard the Daimyo, and Chen received a Special Jonin card and permission to select a technique from the Scroll of Seals.
• Uchiha Chen chose Mutually Multiplying Explosive Tags, sparred with Orochimaru as he tested Joint Softening, and encouraged Orochimaru to pursue the position of Fourth Hokage.
• At the Uchiha Clan Gathering, Uchiha Yama named Fugaku the Young Clan Head and authorized Chen to join the Police Force as a Squad Leader, while assigning clan elites to protect the Daimyo and monitor Sunagakure.
• Uchiha Chen warned Mikoto that the Daimyo mission could cost the Uchiha many lives, and Mikoto confessed that she liked him.
• Uchiha Chen told Nawaki he would soon return to the battlefield, encouraged him to believe in a peaceful future, and agreed to teach Nawaki and Minato the Rasengan.
• Uchiha Chen brought Yakushi Nonō home, arranged spare-time work for her at Uncle Dai’s weapon shop, and suspected that Root had been involved in her past.
