After Danzo escaped Konoha as a Rogue Ninja, the village faced renewed threats from Hidden Cloud and turmoil within its leadership. The Third Hokage recognized Chen’s ambition and entrusted him with carrying Konoha forward.

• The Third Hokage ordered Konoha to intensify the search for Danzo while preventing other villages from capturing him, and appointed Orochimaru to take charge of Root.
• The Third Hokage told Chen that the Fourth Raikage seemed ready to start a real war, and Chen offered to threaten the Eight-Tails in Hidden Cloud Village to make him withdraw.

• Danzo suggested Konoha might be confident enough to give away Tailed Beasts, prompting Nagato to order Zetsu to locate the Eight-Tails Jinchuriki.

Chen and Himeji reached the final cave, where Chen defeated a giant guardian crab and wondered how best to cook it. On the moon, the dwindling Otsutsuki Clan learned that someone had entered the passage from Earth, and Soki suggested the intruder might be an Earth-born descendant rather than the one who awakened the Rinnegan.

Kawakui and Original Human discussed the lunar Otsutsuki Clan’s decline, their inability to leave the moon, and the intruder their family had captured. Kawakui questioned the clan’s plans and longed to see Earth, leaving her disgusted by the prospect of the Otsutsuki using a stolen Byakugan to pursue their destructive beliefs.

• Kawakui and Original Human sat beneath the Artificial Sun and reflected on how the Main-Branch War and generations of inbreeding had left only five lunar Otsutsuki, all with defective Byakugan.
• Kawakui told Original Human that she wanted to see Earth and feared spending her whole life trapped on the moon, but the Tenseigan Seal still prevented Otsutsuki from passing through the passage.
• Original Human explained that his father and the others would kill an intruder with the giant Tenseigan if he had awakened the Rinnegan, but would take the intruder’s pure Byakugan if he came from the Hyuga Clan.
• Kawakui suspected that Original Human would receive the transplanted Byakugan and use his awakened Tenseigan to destroy humanity on Earth, and she called the clan hopeless cases.

Chen and Himeji explored the inhabited interior of the moon, where they found abandoned Otsutsuki ruins and records describing the clan’s migration and the Tenseigan. The ruins revealed that a civil war had destroyed the lunar civilization, and the chapter left the pair investigating the empty settlement.

• Chen and Himeji landed on the moon and discovered a vast, life-sustaining world hidden inside it.
• Himeji summoned the Giant Crab, and the pair rode it across the sea to the opposite shore.

Chen explored Hamura’s shrine and copied a complete Yin-Yang Release cultivation method from its stone wall. After reaching Hamura’s crystal coffin, he heard Otsutsuki Kaguya ask him to save her and fled.

Chen and Himeji encountered Kaguya sealed inside the Moon, but Chen refused to rescue her and continued toward the Tenseigan. When the Moon’s Puppets attacked, Chen fought them and discovered that the apparent Otsutsuki Original Human was a Puppet.

• Kaguya sensed Chen near her Seal and called for help, but Chen fled after realizing who she was.
• Chen told Himeji about Kaguya, and they decided to retrieve the Tenseigan.
• Chen and Himeji entered a vast city in the Gobi Desert, where more than three hundred Puppets attacked them.

• Chen struck Soki back repeatedly, but the Tenseigan’s restorative power rapidly healed Soki’s injuries.
• Soki used his ocular technique to create six figures with the same Chakra fluctuations as himself and surrounded Chen.

After defeating Soki, Chen awoke in his consciousness and met the Sage of Six Paths, who removed the Tailed Beasts from him and explained why Kaguya had been sealed. The Sage warned that if Kaguya escaped, she would drain humanity’s Chakra and use the Divine Tree to destroy life on Earth.

• Chen awoke in a strange space and met the Sage of Six Paths, who said he had chosen Chen to entrust with certain matters.

The Sage of Six Paths explained why he chose humanity over Kaguya and entrusted Chen with protecting the Earth and its people, giving him the means to awaken the Rinnegan. After the Sage vanished, Chen's perception spread across the world, where he saw Indra's Chakra waiting for a host beneath a cave in the Land of Rice Fields.

• The Sage of Six Paths told Chen that he had opposed Kaguya to stop her from draining the Earth and turning humanity into White Zetsu.
• The Sage explained that he had never interfered in the living world's conflicts as long as humanity and the Earth endured, and he entrusted the future to Chen.
