Background

Hongjun was once a Chaos Demon God who perished during Pangu's World Creation Tribulation. His True Spirit reincarnated in the Primordial World as an Innate Being, leaving him unable to pursue the unrestricted path available to a surviving Chaos Demon God. 221 299

He first meets Zhou Jun shortly after Zhou reaches Mysterious Immortal Great Perfection. The two recognize one another as peers and begin a century-long discourse on the Dao at Penglai. The exchange stabilizes Zhou Jun's cultivation and leaves Hongjun on the verge of a breakthrough. 116 117

Hongjun later supports Zhou Jun's formation of the Myriad Races Alliance and becomes one of its deputy leaders alongside Luo Sui, Shen Ni, and Shi Hao. 125 126

Appearance

Hongjun initially appears as a white-haired youth with an unsettlingly distinctive face and a sharp, slaughter-tinged aura. 116 By the time he presides over Zixiao Palace as a Saint, he manifests as an old man with white hair and a long white beard. 250

  • Youthful manifestation with white hair. 116
  • Downturned triangular eyes, high cheekbones, thin lips, a hooked nose, and asymmetrical sword-like eyebrows. 116
  • Wears Daoist robes, a black crown, and black shoes in his early appearance. 116
  • Later adopts the dignified appearance of an elderly Daoist. 250

Personality

Hongjun is composed and courteous when dealing with cultivators he recognizes as equals. Although Zhou Jun overwhelms him in their Hunyuan-realm spar, Hongjun concedes defeat, accepts the return of his treasures, and invites Zhou Jun to Zixiao Palace for a further Dao discussion. 239 240

He is also notably concerned with face and status. After losing to Zhou Jun, Hongjun attempts to impress him with tea from the Five-Needle Pine, then responds to the resulting embarrassment by displaying his knowledge of the Great Dao during their discussion. 240 241

Beneath his saintly bearing, Hongjun is calculating and politically forceful. He transfers the karmic burden of the devastated West to Zhunti and Jieyin while granting them Saint positions, and later distributes authority in ways that encourage rivalry among the Six Sages. 269 290

Abilities & Skills
