Background / History

Pangu was nurtured by the Chaos Green Lotus and possessed an Innate Dao Body, a physique otherwise described as unique among the Three Thousand Demon Gods. The Great Dao furnished him with the Nine Revolutions Profound Art and three Chaos Supreme Treasures, burdening him with an immense karmic debt from birth. 2 17 34 84 85

He obtained the Power Gemstone and learned the method of proving the Dao through world creation. When the Great Dao ordered him to kill every other Chaos Demon God to repay his karma, Pangu refused: he would not slaughter fellow beings—particularly Zhou Jun, whom he considered a confidant—simply to obey the Great Dao. Instead, he resolved to shatter Chaos, open the heavens, and transcend it. 84 85

Pangu encountered Zhou Jun after sensing another cultivator of the Nine Revolutions Profound Art. Delighted to find someone with a comparable body-tempering path, he discussed the Dao with Zhou Jun for thousands of years; both advanced, with Pangu reaching Chaos Realm Great Perfection. 66 67 68

Their subsequent spar became Pangu's first satisfying battle against a genuine peer. Zhou Jun ultimately forced his surrender through an overwhelming array of Chaos Spiritual Treasures and formations, though Pangu maintained that a purely direct fight would be evenly matched or favor him. He departed to seek a Half-step Great Dao breakthrough and promised to challenge Zhou Jun again. 69 74 75 76 77

After attaining Half-step Great Dao, Pangu faced the Demon Gods gathered under the Great Dao's decree. He annihilated both an initial force of over a hundred attackers and a later group of elite Demon Gods led by the Chaos Demon Ape and Ancestor of Slaughter. 85 86 87

Pangu then began the World Creation. He split Chaos with the Sky-Opening Divine Axe, stabilized the forming world with the axe's three successor treasures, and personally held heaven and earth apart as they expanded. The Great Dao eventually retaliated with Lightning Punishment; Pangu used a life-sacrificing strike to complete the Primordial World, then died as his body transformed into its natural order. 88 89 92

Appearance

Pangu appears as a burly man of overwhelming physical presence, initially carrying an axe at his waist and wearing an animal hide around his waist. In battle, he can enlarge himself into a hundred-zhang giant; while supporting the newly created world, his Heaven and Earth Dharma Image grows to billions of feet. 67 75 76 87 92

Pangu is battle-hungry but selective. Because he considers most Chaos Demon Gods too weak to be worthwhile opponents, Zhou Jun's comparable physical strength excites him immediately; he treats their clash as a rare chance to fight in earnest. 69

He is immensely proud of his strength and initially boasts that his three Chaos Supreme Treasures make him invincible. However, he does not deny his defeat to Zhou Jun, openly conceding that Zhou Jun's superior collection of treasures overcame him. 73 76

Despite his intimidation and ruthless treatment of enemies who attack him, Pangu is not portrayed as bloodthirsty. He balks at the Great Dao's demand that he kill all Demon Gods, regards them as beings of the same origin, and refuses to kill Zhou Jun, whom he considers a confidant. 85
