Yahiko led Akatsuki toward the Tenshukaku, splitting the team into lure and breakthrough groups to reach and kill the Daimyo. After someone on the west side shattered the citywide barrier, Nagato smashed through the eastern wall, and Kakuzu unleashed a massive fire-and-wind attack on the approaching defenders.

Yahiko, Konan, Nagato, and Oya Castle En approached Tenshukaku intending to find the Daimyo, only for Jiraiya to warn them that the Daimyo was elsewhere and the summit was a trap. As Nagato uncovered more intelligence, the Third Raikage appeared at the gates.

• Yahiko reviewed the plan to locate the Daimyo and have Oya Castle En kill him while the others held off the Third Raikage.
• Nagato found Kumogakure's Intelligence Squad inside Tenshukaku, and the group continued toward the gates.
• A frog spat Jiraiya out before the group, and he warned them that the Daimyo remained in Kumogakure Village and that the summit was a trap meant to lure Uchiha Ci.
• Jiraiya revealed that Iwagakure delegate Dong Sirren had also been gathering intelligence and gave Yahiko a special kunai to deliver to Uchiha Ci.
• Nagato read Dong Sirren's memories as Jiraiya urged the others to flee, and the Third Raikage emerged through Tenshukaku's gates.

Jiraiya and the Akatsuki fought Third Raikage A, whose speed and strength let him evade their attacks and break through Nagato’s Shinra Tensei. As Nagato tried to warn Uchiha Ci that the Daimyo of the Land of Lightning was missing, Third Raikage reached him and launched himself away in a sudden leap.

• Jiraiya entered Sage Mode and tried to redirect Third Raikage A’s Hell Stab into the scar on his chest, but A dodged and struck at Jiraiya from behind.
