Background / History

Long Kui's soul was sealed within the Demon Sword for a thousand years. When Xiao Se obtained the sword, the System altered her fate and memories: she recognized him as her “Royal Brother” in place of Long Yang. She immediately formed a deep familial attachment to him, while Xiao Se resolved to protect her from the sacrifice and separation she had suffered in her original fate 10 11.

As a Soul Body, Long Kui could not safely remain outside the Demon Sword without protection. Xiao Se promised to find a way to restore her body, while she became his constant companion through the Demon Sword Tattoo on his right arm 11 126. She later began cultivating the Returning Origin Soul Art, which proved especially suited to her soul state 19.

Long Kui's red personality, Hong Kui, surfaced when Xiao Se asked to see her transformed state. The two personalities initially shared one soul-body form: Lan Kui was gentle and reserved, while Hong Kui was bold and combat-oriented 18. They continued to assist Xiao Se throughout his travels, particularly in dangerous encounters involving magical beasts, Hai Bo Dong, and the Azure Lotus Core Flame 46 59 65 72.

Xiao Se and Long Kui held a simple marriage ceremony and temporarily restored her physical body for three days by merging their souls. This allowed her to experience physical sensations for the first time in nearly a thousand years 272. Much later, Xiao Se completed her resurrection using high-grade materials, restoring Lan Kui as Long Kui while Hong Kui remained part of their shared existence 429 430.

Long Kui is a graceful young woman whose initially translucent body reveals her status as a Soul Body. She wears a Wide Sleeve Flowing Fairy Dress and can shift between blue and red forms 10 18.

Hong Kui is Lan Kui's contrasting second personality: fiery, bold, teasing, and direct. She readily fights to protect Xiao Se and is far more assertive than Lan Kui, though she can become embarrassed in unfamiliar intimate situations 18 20 217.
