"Big brother, you're so slow. I've been waiting for you forever."
Zhou Han wore two cute pigtails. Spotting Wang Ye from afar, she pouted unhappily as she spoke.
"Let's go." Long accustomed to Zhou Han, Wang Ye skipped over the subject and said flatly.
Zhou Han shot Wang Ye an annoyed glare. "Boring!" Then she skipped over to the city gate and showed her identification to an Investigator.
Then, under the Investigator's respectful gaze, the two passed through a pale blue curtain of light and left the city.
Bone-chilling cold.
Standing outside the city and feeling the Wasteland's unique chill, Wang Ye looked around. "Which way do we go? Do you have a detailed map?"
"No."
Zhou Han shook her head without hesitation.
Wang Ye frowned.
She dared come without a map? If they got lost in the Wasteland, that would be a real disaster.
At that moment, Wang Ye suddenly regretted his earlier decision.
Zhou Han looked at Wang Ye and gave a bright laugh. "But East City's Mass Grave should be pretty easy to find, right?" As she spoke, Zhou Han cutely stuck out her tongue.
Wang Ye ignored Zhou Han outright. In the direction of East City, beneath the shroud of the Ghost Domain, faint mist drifted through the air.
"Let's go."
After several seconds of silence, Wang Ye headed into the distance.
Zhou Han smiled sweetly, clasped her hands behind her back, and followed behind Wang Ye. Before long, the two vanished into the mist.
"I can't believe I listened to your bullshit."
An hour later, Wang Ye gave Zhou Han a deep look as he wiped the blood from his shoulder.
Not far from him, an old man covered in corpse spots was bound by Hemp Rope, standing motionlessly in place with vacant eyes.
In just one hour of travel, this was already the third one.
Zhou Han's face was slightly pale as well. She smiled awkwardly. "Isn't this still going pretty smoothly? Besides, you haven't even used your ability yet."
Through the thick fog, they could already vaguely make out the outline of the Mass Grave. Wang Ye let out a slight sigh of relief.
Though the journey had been difficult, at least...
They had finally arrived.
Keeping a cautious distance from the bound old man, Wang Ye skillfully untied the Hemp Rope from a safe distance.
The old man stood there stiffly for several seconds before numbly turning his body and vanishing into the fog.
Once the old man's gaze was no longer fixed on them, Wang Ye quietly continued backing away. Zhou Han imitated him, following every step.
"We're here. Where's that ghost?"
Looking at the Mass Grave's sinister atmosphere, Wang Ye frowned slightly and scanned his surroundings warily.
Zhou Han puffed out her cheeks and pondered for a long time. "It should be..."
"Probably... in the center of the Mass Grave. That's what the Scavenger said."
Zhou Han's voice was full of guilt as she spoke.
Wang Ye gave Zhou Han a long look, suppressed the emotions in his heart, and walked deeper into the Mass Grave with a dark expression, not saying a word.
He swore that if he ever believed this crazy woman again, he'd be an idiot!
Zhou Han followed behind Wang Ye with a grin, heading deeper into the Mass Grave.
Gradually, Wang Ye slowed down. Looking at the scattered stones covering the Mass Grave and the occasional tombstones in view, his expression grew increasingly grave.
The same material as the Suburban Cemetery!
Wang Ye crouched down, picked up a piece of broken stone, and examined it carefully. After a long while, he reached his conclusion.
Damn it, why was this connected to that mysterious Suburban Cemetery again?!
With a slight squeeze of his hand, the stone crumbled completely into powder and dispersed into the air.
"Has all the energy already been drained?"
Wang Ye murmured to himself. Looking at the holes scattered across the ground, his face darkened.
Just how many of those things had escaped?!
This was definitely no ordinary Mass Grave!!!
During that mission at the Suburban Cemetery, the thing that had been about to break through the earth had left a deep impression on Wang Ye—the pressure it exerted, along with the faint aura it gave off.
Even now, he had no confidence that he could face that terrifying existence!
Not just anyone was qualified to be suppressed beneath tombstones made of that material!
Wang Ye rose to his feet with a grave expression. Looking at the craters dotting the ground and the shattered stones, he felt a deep sense of dread.
Zhou Han set me up!
Right now, Wang Ye only wanted to get out of here as quickly as possible.
Not far away, Zhou Han stood with an icy expression, her gaze fixed on Wang Ye as though waiting for his next move.
Wang Ye fell into thought.
After a long while—
"An hour. Whether we find the ghost carrying the Thunder Sound Fruit or not, I'm leaving."
At last, he took a deep breath, looked at Zhou Han solemnly, and spoke.
Zhou Han seemed to sense the change in Wang Ye's mood and nodded.
The two of them picked up their pace again, making their way deeper into the Mass Grave.
Along the way, the increasing number of craters and shattered rocks silently conveyed something.
As time passed, the anxiety in Wang Ye's heart grew ever more pronounced.
Finally, he stopped.
"We can't keep searching. We're leaving!"
He spoke without hesitation.
Meanwhile, Zhou Han silently closed her eyes, her long hair drifting in the wind.
A few seconds later, she opened her eyes, a faint smile curling at her lips. "I found him! South, three hundred meters!"
Wang Ye's expression darkened, his eyes filled with hesitation.
Then, that hesitation turned into madness. "Let's do it!"
With that, Wang Ye shot southward like a cannonball.
Zhou Han gradually floated into the air, three small Golden Daggers orbiting around her.
Hovering in midair, she followed closely behind Wang Ye.
Ten seconds later, Wang Ye abruptly stopped and looked ahead.
A Middle-aged Man wearing an old-fashioned Zhongshan Suit wandered about stiffly and aimlessly. His face was abnormally pale, and he was even missing one eye.
"Zhou Han!"
Wang Ye called out in a low voice. As if they shared the same thought, one Golden Dagger silently pierced through the air and shot toward the ghost's forehead.
Wang Ye stared intently ahead. He needed to confirm whether this thing had developed intelligence.
Yet it seemed completely unaware, still wandering without purpose.
The next second, the flying dagger struck its forehead precisely, producing a crisp clang.
Then it bounced off and fell to the ground.
"What?!"
Wang Ye's pupils contracted slightly.
What terrifying defense!
Yet ghosts existed somewhere between illusion and reality. Most ghosts still needed to rely on human bodies in order to move.
By all reason, how could a human body possibly be this tough?
Unless—
Wang Ye instinctively thought of Wang Qiang, that skin-awakened Superhuman.
But looking at the retro Zhongshan Suit on this person—
Could Superhumans have already existed before Eternal Night?
