Maitreya wore a gentle smile, looking as though he were genuinely concerned for Ran Deng as he asked.
Ran Deng's expression darkened unpredictably as he looked at Maitreya. After a moment, he took a deep breath and sneered. "That's right. You're my good grand-disciple, my good comrade-in-arms."
Maitreya lowered his head. "At the very least... our goals are the same."
"That's right. I'm really looking forward to the day you succeed."
Ran Deng threw back his head in wild laughter. Black mist completely enveloped his body, and he vanished into the void without a trace.
Maitreya let out a soft breath.
At some point, his back had already been drenched in sweat.
That old bastard had actually become this strong.
As expected of someone capable of teaching that person.
If that person had not harbored misgivings, or perhaps had some other purpose, Ran Deng's achievements would likely have been even greater. He might even have stepped into that legendary realm as well.
