The light suddenly brightened, and Tom squinted slightly, adjusting before taking in his surroundings: the floating candles in the air, the students gathered around the long tables, the slowly shifting, star-filled night sky above, and the dirty hat in front of the professors' table...
For the first time, an extremely urgent thought struck him. Tom, with a dark expression, silently prayed that the singing hat wasn't for the Sorting!
"Those whose names are called, come up~ and sit on the stool..."
The Professor's words shattered Tom's last hope. Dumbledore cheerfully watched the pale-faced little wizard below and chuckled a few times.
The line moved forward, and when Tom heard his name, he clenched his small fists, pursed his lips, smoothed the wrinkles on his robe, and slowly walked up. He sat on the high stool, a shadow fell over his eyes, and the next second, he heard the hat above shout, "Slytherin!"
Jumping off the stool, Tom bowed slightly to the professor beside him and walked to the quietest long table. After his gaze swept over a certain platinum blonde, he headed straight for the end of the table. If there were truly angels in this world, it wouldn't be him, but the person sitting at the head of the table.
Tom lowered his head, the whispers around him like they were unheard. His mind was filled only with the breathtaking figure he had just seen.
"Hah! A fallen half-blood actually got into Slytherin, tsk, how annoying..."
Abraxas chuckled lightly. Despite his displeasure, he maintained a perfect fake smile. The Sorting Hat had barely touched the new student's hair before sorting him into Slytherin. Was it due to talent or bloodline?
Volga glared warningly at Brent. Seeing Abraxas's smile, she grew curious, wanting to know what had piqued the Malfoy heir's interest. "What are you smiling about? Did you find something interesting~?"
Without answering, Abraxas heard the Headmaster's speech end and led the applause with a soft clap. Only after he picked up his cutlery did all the Slytherin students begin to eat. "I did indeed find something interesting..."
Volga followed his gaze. The black-haired newcomer, wearing a second-hand school robe, seemed somewhat out of place. But that face... she nodded with understanding. She had long been aware of her senior's preferences; it perfectly fit the Malfoy family's aesthetic.
"Your thoughts are truly..." Abraxas sighed helplessly, slowing his eating pace to allow the Riddle to imitate his movements. "I'm not so desperate as to do anything to a new student."
Holding his cup to his mouth, Volga's eyes flickered. That wasn't necessarily true. After all, she had seen many men and women flocking to Abraxas over the past two years, but unfortunately, he had too high a standard, and none caught his eye.
Now that a handsome new student had arrived, couldn't he just devour them after a few years of grooming?
"Don't speak too soon~ The little princess of the Bulstrode family won't be happy to see you interested in anyone~"
Instantly losing his appetite, a cold glint flashed in Abraxas's grey eyes. He didn't mind arranged marriages between families, but if the other party dared to interfere in his life without knowing their place, he wouldn't mind doing something about it. "The future mistress of the Malfoy family... there's no need for her to live forever, is there~?"
