The Exiled Son of Destiny

"Yes." Luo Tian nodded.

"Didn't Frieza say we weren't to leave Planet Vegeta for the time being?" Rutra said in a muffled voice.

"That's his business. It has nothing to do with me." Luo Tian shook his head and turned to leave.

"That kid sure is full of himself..." Rutra gritted his teeth. "Does he really think he's still that genius boy from before?"

Bardock watched Luo Tian's departing figure without saying a word, though his expression had turned somewhat grave.

"Super Saiyan?" Bardock murmured to himself.

Afterward, Bardock headed back to his home.

"Gine, I'm back." Bardock called out to his wife, Gine, who was cutting meat in the room.

Bardock's wife, Goku's mother Gine, was a logistics worker, mainly responsible for providing food and other support for the warriors.

Not all Saiyans were warriors. A considerable number of those with low Battle Power became support personnel.

After all, a race's strength was inseparable from logistical work.

Because Gine's Battle Power was relatively low, this was all she could do.

"Bardock!"

Delight appeared on Gine's face as she hurried forward and embraced Bardock.

The couple had not seen each other in a long time, and it was rare for them to be reunited today.

Perhaps today's reunion would become tomorrow's parting.

As a warrior race, their reality was often this cruel.

"The streets are quite lively." Bardock sighed. "It's been a long time since I've seen such a scene."

"Yes, everyone's back." Gine nodded.

"Where's Raditz?" Bardock asked.

"He went out to play. And he's already become a warrior—he'll soon be partnering with Prince Vegeta and heading to another planet," Gine replied.

"Prince Vegeta? Partnering with that troublesome fellow?" Bardock silently wiped away sweat.

"Yes." Gine responded.

"Is Kakarot still in the incubation pod?" Bardock asked again.

"He's been in there for three years already. It's time to let him out. Do you want to go see him?" Gine replied.

In the inner room, Bardock saw Kakarot sleeping inside the incubation pod.

Kakarot looked very much like Bardock. One look was enough to tell he was his biological son.

"He's grown so much already." Bardock sighed.

"Yes, he looks exactly like you, especially that distinctive hairstyle." Gine nodded.

A brief silence followed.

"After dark, I'll steal a spherical spaceship, then send this child into exile on another planet." Bardock pondered aloud.

"Huh? Why would you do that?" Gine could not understand. "And you want him to risk becoming an exiled child..."

"It's for Kakarot's own good." Bardock let out a quiet sigh.

"What happened?" A sudden unease arose in Gine's heart.

"Frieza is plotting something... I have a premonition of death." Bardock's expression grew increasingly grim.

That night, Bardock stole a spherical spaceship and placed Kakarot inside it.

Under cover of darkness, Bardock carried the spaceship on his shoulder and brought Gine to a desolate wilderness.

In the barren mountains, the cold wind howled with a trace of chill.

There was not a single person around.

"Come to think of it, worrying about your own child really doesn't seem like something a Saiyan would do." Gine said with a smile.

"Maybe your innocence rubbed off on me." Bardock smiled.

Inside the spaceship, Kakarot kept crying and fussing, as though he sensed he was about to be separated from his parents.

"Kakarot, stop fussing." Bardock said.

"Bardock, why don't we run away together?" Gine suggested.

"It's no use. The Scouters will find us soon enough." Bardock shook his head and set the spaceship down on the ground.

"I've set the destination to a distant planet called Earth." Gine operated the spaceship for a moment, then said to Bardock and Kakarot inside, "That planet has plenty of food, but its resources aren't worth much. It's an inconspicuous but good planet! If Bardock is simply worrying too much, we'll go pick you up soon."

"Remember, don't stare at the full moon for too long," Bardock instructed.

"I'll tell Raditz about that too," Gine added.

"You have to survive." Bardock waved at Kakarot in the spaceship.

"Goodbye..." Gine was reluctant to part.

Kakarot stared at his parents with wide eyes, his tender infant face filled with question marks.

Father, Mother, don't you want me anymore?

Whoosh!

The spaceship soared into the air and swiftly left Planet Vegeta under Bardock and Gine's watchful gazes.

10:00 p.m.

Luo Tian arrived at the spaceship launch base right on time.

There were five people gathered at the spaceship launch base.

Besides Vegeta, there was Goku's older brother Raditz, along with Nappa and two other Saiyans.

Of these five Saiyans, only Nappa had grown into a young man. The others were about the same age as Luo Tian.

"Hey, Luo Tian, you're late." Raditz stepped forward.

"Thanks, don't mention it," Luo Tian replied.

Raditz: "????"

"I wasn't complimenting you." Raditz wiped away sweat.

"Let's go." Vegeta called out, giving the order to everyone present.

"Hey, Prince Vegeta, can we really leave now?" Nappa was still a little worried. "Didn't Lord Frieza say we all had to remain on Planet Vegeta and weren't allowed to leave?"

"Hmph. Where this prince goes—is that any of his business?" Vegeta snorted. "Come if you want. Don't if you don't!"

Nappa lowered his head and quickly said that he would go with them.

One minute later.

Whoosh!

A small spaceship broke through the planet's atmosphere and flew into the starry sky.

The vast starry sky, the boundless universe.

A flattened, disc-shaped spaceship circled back and forth through the starfield near Planet Vegeta.

Seated aboard the spaceship was none other than the Cosmic Emperor, Frieza.

"Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan God?" Frieza sat in his hover pod with a smile, endless mockery in his eyes.

(Note: Many readers believe Frieza did not know about the Super Saiyan God and could not possibly have said this. However, in the 2018 Broly Movie, Frieza did indeed say this, perhaps to connect it with the plot of Dragon Ball Super. The setting used in this book follows the latest Dragon Ball Super manga, including Apprentice Angel Merus, Granolah, Black Frieza, and so on, who will gradually appear later in the timeline.)

"Lord Frieza, I believe this is merely a clichéd heroic legend." Berryblue shook her head.

Berryblue was a frog-like attendant and, in a sense, Frieza's nanny, responsible for his food and daily needs.

"Of course I know that, but I cannot tolerate even the slightest unease." Frieza snorted, smiling as he looked toward the distant blue Planet Vegeta. His eyes narrowed into triangles. "No matter what, Saiyans are an extremely prideful bunch. They will never become my loyal slaves! It's time for them to be destroyed. But I, Frieza, have always been merciful, so I'll let them perish along with their planet."

"What a pity. Saiyans are excellent warriors after all," Berryblue lamented.

"Besides, this was also Lord Beerus's order," Frieza suddenly added.

"Lord Beerus? God of Destruction Beerus?" Berryblue's voice began to tremble.

"I don't want a third person to know about this." Frieza narrowed his eyes at Berryblue.

Just as they were speaking, one of the underlings walked in from outside, preparing to report something.

Then he heard Frieza say that he did not want a third person to know.

The underling immediately froze, unsure whether to advance or retreat.
