Spider-Man dodged as the webbing gave off a faint scorched smell under the intense heat. Thankfully, it was only the webbing that had burned, not him.

But then again, what else could he do besides dodge? He had been bitten by a mutated spider, not dropped into lava. Peter Parker had never gained resistance to high temperatures—and even if he had, the Human Torch's several-thousand-degree, perhaps even ten-thousand-degree heat was beyond his defenses. Especially when this guy still thought he was Mysterio.

"Damn Mysterio! You're dead! I'm going to roast you into charcoal!"

"Johnny, I really want to know what Mysterio told you—" Peter rolled sideways, his web sticking to a distant fire escape as he yanked himself out of the sea of flames. "—but I guess you won't tell me, will you?"

Elegantly evading in midair before swinging between the skyscrapers, Peter relied on more than just the sonar system he had made. As New York's friendly neighborhood hero, he had developed a kind of muscle memory for every street and building in Manhattan, allowing him to swing back and forth without error. In comparison, the Human Torch seemed unable to stop himself several times and had already slammed into walls.

Fortunately, the Human Torch did not keep it up for long. Another "Mysterio" swooped down from midair and grabbed him, while Tony Stark's voice came through Peter's suit comms. "All right, kid. Leave this guy to me."
