Peter was not surprised that Cindy knew he had arrived. After all, she could sense his presence at any time. That sense was generally not so precise, but Cindy surely knew how near or far away he was.
He was just curious why Cindy was not resting properly in bed, or whether she had knocked something over. After going upstairs and knocking on the door, he realized it was not closed.
Could that sound just now have been Cindy opening the door for him?
Saying, "Excuse me," Peter pushed open the door and saw Cindy lying in bed beneath the covers. She was clearly flustered, as though she had no idea Peter had come. Her gaze darted away as well. "Uh, sorry. I'm not feeling too well..."
"I'm not here to blame you. I came to see you. Fury said you were sick, or maybe it was Coulson. I'm not sure whose number that was."
As he spoke, Peter set a fruit basket and a box of cookies on Cindy's desk. The room was unexpectedly neat. Peter felt that the rooms of all the girls he knew were rather plain, but he was not sure whether all girls' rooms were like that. After all, he had not been to many girls' rooms. Gwen, Felicia, then Cindy... that probably did not count as many.
